To the People

That's sad. I was in Beijing back in 2005, and smoking seemed permitted anywhere--including at a dinner with government officials. But the article does mention an exception for bars and restaurants, so at least for the time being, you are still free to do things in the People's Republic of China that will land you in the criminal justice system in Maryland (or get you fired from CNN (as was radio talker Chris Plante--for smoking!)
