I don't even see how this is a separation of powers issue. Jefferson had been supoenaed and failed to comply with the supoena for several months. Then the feds went through the proper channels and got a court order to search his office, all of this after having videotaped him accepting bribes and finding $90,000 in cash in his freezer. A Congressman's office is not a sanctuary where no US laws apply.
