To the People

If there's something more entertaining than conflicting left-wing values, I don't know what it is.

See, for example, the comments thread here.

if the would-be parents are homophobic (e.g. they believe that being gay is a punishment from god) and they live in an entirely homophobic town (bashers every single one of them), would it not be in the best interest of the future gay to be aborted?

on a quasi-related note: what about amniocentisis (sp.)? doctors can now detect disabilities early on, prompting ethical dilemmas such as: what if the kid is going to have downs syndrome or have no nose? would a noseless baby be better off dead? (for the record, i would probably date a noseless person as long as there are no additional adverse health effects associated with noselessness)

This subject was a play and a (made-for-TV) movie, Twilight of the Golds.

Kip, worth wathcing?

Discovering a "gay gene" would cause all sorts of problems for the religious right, as their entire anti-gay agenda centers around the belief that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice (we homos know it isn't as what person in his right mind would choose to be gay?).

And then maybe pregnant lesbians would start aborting straight babies.

good point, leonardo. discovery of a gay gene would throw the right into turmoil, as much as the left. Good thing we're libertarians.

Jenny, what if I had an ear where my nose is. No, I couldn't hear out of it. And no, there are no health effects. Just an unworkable ear where my nose should be.

i would only date a dude with an unworkable ear where a nose should be if a midget midget lived inside of it.
