Kobayashi broke the record today with 53 3/4 dogs. (!) Joey Chestnut, the great white hope of this thing, came in second with 52.

Balko's piece is pure anti-history. Independence was declared, and the Revolution was fought, over taxes and money -- see the Stamp Act and the Intolerable Acts. "Police state" issues were generally not the problem.

I like his post because he makes fun of the folks at national review. He's spot on. NR would have totally editorilized against the revolution.
