This is also similar to how Maryland "deregulated" its power market but held prices in place for several years. Now that the prices are free to go up, and market rates are about 72% higher, it has become a gubernatorial issue. Half-assed deregulation can be even worse than regulation.


Why doesn't anyone in the USA look outside their borders for examples of working, functioning, well designed deregulation? You don't even have to learn a foreign language...

Try the UK - deregulated power works here. Deregulated broadband works also. Deregulated voice calls, yup, works. Deregulated gas for home heating, works. Deregulated busses, work (except for London where they're a licensed monopoly still).

Why keep re-inventing the wheel?
