Oh yea, we celebrated Saturday because we all went back to classes monday. and we all drank a lot of Mead, so it did boost the local Michigan Mead economy.

Oh yall haven't lived if you haven't worked for the city of Boston, which grants 14 paid holidays including my favorite, Evacuation Day, which allegedly celebrates the day that the British gave up in the Revolutionary War but also happens to fall on St Patrick's Day.

Let me remind if I may, while some dream of flying pregnant anarchyst strippers, that this land celebrates Columbus ( Colo'n) day for his clever idea of attempting to find a better commerce route between Europe and India/China, due to the middle east trade and turnpike fare embargoes of that time and that region.

Happenstance that we the Columbus family feel " raped and violated" for after him found and traded the lands and made property title with regal rights, almost immediately after he was wronged, still until today, some self serving individuals ( mob stampede style) shoved the family aside since, and Vikings( Northern European Barbarian races?) if they had found the indians would have done the same ( Horns, Hammers and swords vs sticks and arrows?)

And thank to that paperwork and the acknowledgement from our family that, you my friend aren't kicked out of your country by the same people that was betrayed in thanksgiving (New England).

On the Spaniard side of the story, the natives decided to prove that the white men were not gods ( something that we are still wondering why they had that in their minds? Maybe because the ships, clothes and technology of the time could not compare with stones and sticks.) they grabbed one and drowned him at the river, Not sure if it happened in Puerto Rico or Dominican Republic. And war broke between both.
Disease and greed got in the way of diplomacy, Sorry for that (deeply regretable, glad our family had nothing to do with all of the ensuing mess) if it was because we found the Americas by accident.
