second on the wow |

Um, is it me, or has this been a banner year for liberty? |
|
This really shouldn't be a WOW case though. I hadn't realized any of this was all going on until a friend of mine moved to chicago a year ago, and had to store his guns. As it's illegal within the city of chicago to own a handgun even in your house. |

odd that you'd tout a supposed victory for the constitution while asserting, quite unconstitutionally, that the federal judiciary effectively makes law. the federal judicial power extends to cases and controversies, and all legislative power is vested in congress. |

Having grown up in a drug den my one anti-libertarian stance is on guns. Have one pointed in your face and you never want to see one again. |

leo, i hear a lot of my own thoughts in what you are saying here. though i have never had a gun pointed at me for any reason (thankfully) i have lived in many places where they are just the way of life and seen as a "reasonable" way to settle disputes with neighbors, strangers, or anyone else who is seen as fucking with someone. i just haven't seen that most people with them are thinking of them as a mode of self-defense or as a last resort. just the opposite..i have heard many say, "if someone fucks with me (whatever that involves including not getting one's way) then i will fucking shoot them". i am sure my thoughts on guns are libertarian either, but they are from my own life experience. however, philosophically i have a hard time with the prohibition of things and so this is where the tension lies for me in terms of this issue of gun control. |
