When a 5 year child is molested by a sex offender (being an adult) it changes them forever. This robs them of their child hood. Nearly all sex offenders that are released commit the same crime again. I'm not in favor of extorting tax money to keep these persons locked up. However, I am also not in favor of letting them get off with light punishment. Sex offenders are a threat to women and children. We must protect children from these vicious criminals. We need a better plan than the current one to deal with sex offenders. There is a huge difference even among criminals between a guy who robs banks and a guy who molest a helpless child. How many sex offenders(real ones) actually are rehabilitated?

Then why not just castrate them and release them? I'm more in favor of that than of giving a guy 200 years for having pictures of a crime.
Does someone get a prison term for having pictures of a bank robbery. I might be a woman, but I do know that A LOT more men than you think have interest in sex with very young females. Alot more than people in polite society would like to admit, but if they can keep their ACTIONS under control, there is no reason to treat them worse than murderers. If they DO commit the crime, just castrate them and be done with it.

How much do we pay the first person who is castrated mistakenly? The second? When does it cost more to reimburse the mistakes than it does to imprison someone wrongly?

As a proposed punsihment to pedophiles: there should be a collection of real 'hard core' sexua; deviants cultivated from all prisons across the country who are then 'allowed' to share a cell with the pedophiles.
