As a self-employed person who pays for her own health insurance I confront this issue constantly. My view is that the most efficient way of serving citizens would be for the gov't to encourage private enterprises, like Wal-Mart, to set up cheap primary care clinics and then also offer citizens a way to pay insurance for catastrophic illnesses. |

Leonardo, you're right. Instead the government pretty much discourages it. It's usually state government blocking things. If you tried to build a hospital in the state of Illinois, and your site is within 8 miles or so of another hospital, you'd have an easier time trying to build an oil refinery instead. |
