To the People

I'm with you on this. And not just because I use vulgarities and slurs more than your average psychopath.

I'm ok with social policing up to the level of say, ie: a black guy can punch me in the face for calling him a nigger. He should be able to do that and I've seen it happen. But this posturing and shaming to the point where it's the equivalent of legal action is scary. Watch them ban words and wait till they go after ones you use.

It's also a matter of humor. Anytime we attack words used during an attempt at humor it's bad news for us all. How is it any different from social conservatives attacking dramatic movies depicting rape and pedophilia? Or the big uproar in NYC over the shit-smeared picture of mary in the gallery? Comedy is a form of art and social commentary, plain and simple. I don't care if the person might be a bigot or they aren't funny. You don't get to choose who is allowed to use certain words because you didn't find it funny or you were offended. Everyone loses then, including the brilliant ones like a Prior in his day.

and us, the public, who to this day can still pick shit up from Pryor while laughing at his stories.

wow, well said. You are to me what Jacob Sullum is to you.

and like you i was high on crack at the time...ok i lie, meth..that i bought from a n-word and used with a f-word
