Well, Rob I'm glad that your "go-to move" works for you. What the article in Rocky Mountain News neglected to say is that there have been a lot of problems recently in Boulder with violence especially when linked to alcohol. I'm sure that you are aware of the very close vote on Amendment 44 earlier this year, and what we (NORML) are trying to do is inform people of their rights and give the straight (shocking to some) facts on marijuana. There are a lot of misconceptions about marijuana (as I'm sure you know) and the point I was trying to make during the press conference is that marijuana is the "safer choice" in many respects when compared to alcohol.

My points, and I have beer to drink and basketball to watch:
First, I never said my go-to move works. Going to a move and having it work are two enitrely different things. Outside of my bi-curious roomate two weekends ago, I can't think of a time it did work.
Second, since when did people start reading this blog?
Look, go back and read what I have wrote here if you care to. I was all over Amendment 44, I'm a huge fan of local decriminalization efforts and SAFER has done an admirable job. I just don't like a lot of the arguments made by advocacy groups, and I don't think they have been/will particulary effective.
Directly releated to the alcohol point...here is what I said in a comments section of a post in response to someone...
Sure, it's the easiest argument to make. We allow A and B, which both do more harm than C, so why do we ban C? However, if you are willing to use that logic, why not---We ban C but allow A and B, which both do more harm. Why not ban A and B as well?
I use it, but I don't like to rely on it as my basis for convincing people that we need to overhaul our drug policy. I'm big on freedom and liberty and the positive consequences that come from maximizing those. That's how silly I am, call me naive and old-fashion.
Another relative comment I made in relation to what would work can be found at :

I'm not saying that I don't like beer and basketball...hell March is all about booze. We have all of April for Pot.
Also, were you aware that Mason Tvert [SAFER] was the one to call the press conference?
As for the comparing A to B thing I completely agree, but you have to think about what logic will work on the general public. Do you think that there are better routes of passing on the message that pot is different than the way a lot of people view it? If so I'd be very interested in hearing. People [the general public] just seem to have a hard time conceptualizing facts without a basis for comparison in their minds [visual is probably best for a lot of people from what I've observed], hence the comparison of Marijuana and Alcohol.
I'm not trying to diss on your site at all, I think your writing follows logically and makes the reader think [at least a little bit, which is awesome. Keep it up. I just wanted you to know that I saw this mostly.
