I prefer the idea of a constitutional amendment stating that all laws will automatically be repealed after a certain period of time unless they are re-enacted.
On the (potential) bright side, Barney Frank is attempting to repeal the unlawful internet gambling act. If he can't get the votes to pass the repeal, I really really hope he gets it repealed the same way it was passed: inserting it into must vote for legislation like the port security act. Will liberty take one back?

Times have definitely limited freedoms. I remember being in a car in the 70's and drinking beer and it was legal.
Those days were so much more free, and why is it illegal to drink in a car if you are under the (ridiculously low) legal limit?

I call it "The Death of Fun."
It's terrifying to think how I could be arrested and imprisoned for doing the stuff today I used to do in my teens. Back then I was a stupid kid. But between zero-tolerance and minimum sentences, today I'd be a life-long inmate.

You're telling me. I used to think of myself as a fairly law-abiding citizen. But I have a tough time going through the day doing my standard activities, without breaking multiple laws. And why is multiple spelled with a p and not a b? Anyone?

that fluorescent bulb comment was me. While I do prefer them, I obviously don't see the need to ban incandescents, the overlords comment was in jest, its a play on a robot overlords joke.
What amazes me is that incandescents are still made. I guess they're ridiculously cheap to produce with a large markup. Plus I guess they're a constant revenue stream, since they have such short life-spans.
anyway, laws=bad!! =)
