To the People

If it saves just one life it's worth it--didn't you get the memo?

That's an incredibly low number, which must be attributed to the ability of career drinkers (you know who you are) to appear sober when needed. I'm guessing if they actually had all 830 blow into a breathalizer it would have been much much higher. Which pretty much shows the ineffectiveness of the checkpoints. Also, in CA the checkpoints must announce themselves well in advance, giving drunks the opportunity to make a turn and go around. Around here the checkpoints regularly nab zero or 1 drunks, but manage 10 or 20 driving without license or improper documentation citations.
