To the People

Add Castro and Chavez to the list of anti-ethanol legions.

Do you think Walmart could make ethanol?

Woohoo! I drink Diet Coke with Splenda.

I'm a little surpised at your alarmism. Have you no faith that the market will find a better (and cheaper) way to produce the same goods at the same relative quality? What about cane sugar and flour?

I would be plenty okay with this if it meant getting cane sugar in everything instead of HFCS.

Oh, and if the whole ethanol thing wasn't because of lobbyists in the first place. Just like why we have HFCS as a main sweetener instead of cane sugar.

The market is being distorted by subsidy. I think the market may adapt, but I don't think we will be better off than if the market hadn't been distorted to begin with. The simple fact is the market is bound by the laws of nature. Ethanol can be inefficient and it's tied to food stocks. The market will reflect that.
