To the People

i wish you had given me some advance notice.

i could have supplied you with a bucket of giz to hurl at the guy.

now THATS a brunchtime image

i attended this show...it was the opposite of news. it could have been done in 1980 and still not have been news. same random kinds of health stats quoted as facts; no real discussion about possible alternatives to "treatment" if the idea of using or abusing drugs is in fact a disease (no scientific proof that i have read about clearly points to predisposition or genetics as a real factor, though disease-model enthusiasts do point to the brain changing after enough use of drugs. that seems an obvious consequence.); and if drug abuse is a disease, then what was with all of the contradictions between allowing access to treatment (code word "abstinence only") for some while appropriate punishment for others (namely underage or college campus drinkers). then more inconsistencies about education and prevention of drug use beginning in the home, as long as parents are not the ones letting their children experiment or use drugs in the first place. and just for fun, dobbs managed to also get his immigration low blow in about blaming mexico for all of this mess in terms of bring the the drugs in that "target americans".

how does this asshole dobbs have his own show? and i am wondering when fox will start courting him, if they haven't already. he is so full of bullshit and seems to only invite "experts" who kiss his agenda.

CNN has kind of a minor anti-drug campaign going on at various levels, Lou Dobbs is only one.

Dobb's and CNN's approach is strictly Nixon era, frothing at the mouth, "Reefer Madness" baloney.

I keep wanting to email Dobbs and tell him the reason the old film "Reefer Madnes" is still checked out in video stores is not because it is a powerful anti-drug message, but because it is now considered a comedy.

Nobody over ten years old believes that crap any more.

Its disappointing to see that Dobbs, and I presume the whole wealthy corporate society he represents, have learned nothing about drugs since Tricky Dick invented the modern drug war.

Ignorance and superstition will never have a positive effect on the drug war.

The only way to get Americans to stop their drug use, and change their behavior, is with practical knowledge based on experience, and scientifically accurate information.

Lou Dobbs misssed the mark right out of the gate. Watching his clumsy anti-drug program makes me think Lou Dobbs is the new Lawrence Welk of modern TV's infotainment/marketing industry.
