To the People

To be fair, the VA system (as opposed the the Army system of which Walter Reed was once a flagship, er, showpiece) is actually pretty good after some significant reform under Clinton. In this particular case, the problem is less "government run" and more "clueless dolt run."

Ops was contracted out to a company run by a halliburton exec.

Privitization only works when there is competition.

Ah, yes. Government run healthcare would be wonderful if only it were run by the right people.

Uh, Walter Reed's operations were contracted out to a private company...

A private company hired by the government. Did they just stop overseeing the whole thing, or just not care?
