I can see the environmental benefit of taxing cars that go into the city. But there is a scary Big Brother aspect to it that I don't like.

How do they collect these tolls? I have no idea what London does but do they read license plates or something?

If roads were privatized -- as they should be -- then I'd be all in favor of congestion pricing. As it is, it's not the worst thing I can imagine. There are some positive intended consequences.
