Doesn't the market already take care of the "punishment" by pricing?

Unless you are suggesting that gas taxes should be raised. Or possibly charging license registration fees on a per-mile basis rather than the typical weight/annual basis.

I am not sure what you mean, but if you are saying that gas pricing is market-based and market-based pricing is the appropriate way to deal with the issue then I agree with you.

I don't support any type of government regulation of fuel economy standards or tax breaks for hybrids.
