In a few years, people won't remember they could eat Tastycakes, (trans fat danger!), smoke in their own home if they have pets who might suffer from second-hand smoke, choose whether or not to take psychotropic drugs with dangerous side effects, cross the street without holding someone's hand, or dive into a pool. |
They won't remember because they will be stupefied by boredom, or sundered from the caress of nicotine that kept them alert. |
Do people remember that you used to be able to smoke in office buildings and airplanes? Now the smoke break is a built in 3-4 hours / day off for smoking office workers. I keep hearing that the y won't stop at prohibiting smoking, that everyone elses favorite thing will be next. But what would be next? Tastycakes? Seriously, pretty much everything is already illegal except booze, and I doubt they will try that again. |
Oh, they're gearing up for that too. Everyone once in awhile some idiot at the DEA or a prohibition group starts rambling about how prohibition wasn't the disaster people claim. Often they mean to deny it as a model of drug prohibition, but these are the same people that want abortion banned so they can nail back-alley practitioners. It's about job security for them. |
