Earlier this year, the Colombian foreign minister -- who was held hostage for several years by insurgents -- readily admitted that it was American prohibition that fueled the violence and discord in his nation. Not really news to anyone who's paid attention to the shortcomings of continued supply-side interdiction efforts, but it was refreshing to hear it from someone with official status.
