Honestly, I think you need to watch not only the last episode, but every episode of the show again. I am not questioning your devotion as a fan, but if there is one thing that was put in our face and heads time and time again it is that "the game is the game" , "always".
More than that The Wire has always shown us that time just progresses on without change. The game can't be reformed and neither can the police, politics, schools, or newspapers.
While one chapter may close, Avon, Stringer, Bodie, Omar, McNulty another one begins. I know the last episode felt rushed but if anything it held true to the main facet of the show, nothing changes but time.
