I would think natural 'muck' would provide the foundation for a healthy aquatic ecosystem, allowing you to provide a good spot for fish, frogs or turtles. What you think is 'clean' and tidy may not be good for critters.

Well this isn't about the muck, but I think your pond and all of it looks GREAT! My boyfriend and I just finished a pond off of our patio, When i first put it in it was 90 gallon, small! It's bigger now, but not quite finished was surfing for landscaping ideas, your site has been a really big help and worth marking or birthmarking would like to show you some pictures and be open for suggestions.
