The members/players of the club are free to make this blog in their own image (subject to the rules and regulations, of course). My advice would be to stop complaining and start posting.

I'm in for the Paramount this year. Last year it was a great fun tournament, and I recommend it to everyone.

I am considering playing, but it is highly unlikely that I could be available on 10 consecutive Monday nights. Are forfeits routine in this event? Is it bad form to enter if I know that I will be unable to play all 10 rounds?

Greg,
Entering a round robin with the expectation of forfeiting rounds is a chess sin of the highest order. On the other hand, if you think you only need to miss 1 or 2 nights, you can usually get your opponents to reschedule the games for another night.

Last year most of us were willing and able to reschedule our games, if you were only missing one or two nights and knew in advance.

Also, last year, there were a few forfeits towards the end of the tournament, when neither player could easily reschedule and the result was not going to effect the outcome of the event.

I'm happy this tournament of my creation has survived so long. It was one of my favorites.
