Boylston Chess Club

count me in!

Gravatar great. see you Monday. bob

Gravatar I am also playing! Here is how I am going to prepare for everyone:

Mike Griffin-- Pre-game meal: Sushi dinner. Giant maki rolls.

Ken Ho -- I will bring my confusing Russian chess clock that only I can read.

Phillip Nutzman-- I will bring pictures of my backyard stargazing discovery of an Earth-like exo-planet, soon to be published in Nature.

Jon Lee-- I'll bring the Spanish Guitar player from Harvard Square to serenade us during the game. "The Girl from Ipanema" over and over again.

Ben Goldberg-- I'll dress as the Ultimate Warrior.

Adam Yedidia-- I'll tell him that we are playing a chess variant in which 1) If I capture all his pieces, then he "wins". 2) After move 1, all of his next 10 moves must be with a king. 3) His queen is a special piece that can only move like a King or, on odd numbered moves, a pawn.

Carey Theil-- After he decimates the rest of the field, when paired with me, I'll remind him he doesn't qualify for the Rubens's Landy anymore, so you can't beat me up this week.

Gravatar I'm going to start sleeping with a set of ECOs under my pillow.

Gravatar Ha!

In all seriousness, this is a great tournament and I encourage everyone to join.

The championship might be VERY strong this year, so the Rubens Landey players have a strong incentive to play and win.

It would be great to see the strongest Rubens Landey ever. Encourage your friends and colleagues to play.

How about Charlie Mays? Kent Leung? Andrew Tichenor? Greg Kaden? Alan Price? Julian Chan? I know you guys are out there ...

Gravatar I am here and looking forward to having Goldberg, Rihel et al. beat the rust off me in each round I am able to play.

Gravatar Great! I hope all those Carey mentioned can play. It would be a lot of fun.

Gravatar Have any of you tried Chili's new Southern Smokehouse burger? A stack of onion straws, applewood bacon, and cheddar cheese topped on a half pound tender beef patty with barbecue sauce over a sourdough bun.

I may be terrible at chess but this is definitely one thing that brings great joy to my life.
