A few years ago, the BCC acquired a collection of Chess Review magazines (edited by Al Horowitz) from the 1930s, 40s, etc. Those magazines are part of the BCF library. Horowitz published news of events in Massachusetts in those issues. If someone at the club is willing to spend the time and effort, he or she can glean quite a bit of Mass. chess news from those magazines.
