you know i love it when you talk dirty to me

I am envious that you write for a living. That would be my dream job if I had any clue how to do it. I have read some really pathetic popular fiction and I know sometimes it might be a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

Wow, I am mad flattered like a mad hatter that I mad matter the way you say I do. Those should be lyrics to a song; I'll be waiting for the royalty checks to roll in.
I needed a break from all this. I know you'll forgive me. I'll make it up to you, trust me.
Rather, t(h)rust me.

What I've tried to do, though I can't relate any success in it, is try and write a few quick vignettes that don't apply to your story but may have happened in the character's past. Stick him in these situations and see how he develops! Further you'll have past episodes in Jack's life to refer to if you need to!

Excellent suggestion, Joe. I'll try it. So you write? Where's your bloggie?
Thx for the encouragement, Blue.

Sorry about that, I feel like such a whore typing my url into HALOscan comments that I've up and stopped doing it. It makes me feel like "HAHA, I don't really want to comment on your stuff I just to say something so people will come tell me how great I am!"
That said, I left my url this time, so come tell me how great I am.

Hah, you're asking us puny mortals for advice on your budding futuristic tale? You have it all in the bag sex. Just stick to your initial vision, let it blossom but don't stray, but you know that already.
As far as a theme goes hmmm. Stanely Kubrick did something interesting in A Space Odessy. He deliberately painted the future as inherently unknowable and instead focused on the predictability of human morality and emotion.
Then there's this whole other notion that social memes will progess to the point where they almost cancels out our primal bloodlust, and everybody will look back on concepts such as war and ponder on their absurdity. The old emotion vs. reason theme.
I find our lack of foresight on a social level interesting. Why must we hit rock bottom to become aware of what is right in front of us, etc. Why must we destroy ourself to remind ourselves of what we built.
I totally know what you're saying about the characters dictating themselves. I've never experienced it but it makes total sense. Besides, characters dictate themselves every night in my dreams. I just wish the hot ones to have more sex with me.

Wow, thx guys. Joe, I'll check you out (wink).
Greg - when I write I start story first and themes emerge - or they don't. But actually, they always do.
"Don't stray" - that's the best bit. Especially since this is a short story. It's on a sticky on my monitor right after this until the story is done!
