Gravatar Elizabeth Hayt is such a yoyo...bloggers are rich people with too much time on their hands? Hayt had time to write her boring "pornoir" book. And considering all her cosmetic procedures, it is unlikely that she is short on money. Hayt needs to mull over her own life before pointing fingers at bloggers.

Gravatar yup, sure there's more to life than the political blog ... people come read us when they're BORED TO DEATH with the latest political ranting. And BWAHAHAHAHAHA to elizabeth hayt, bless her sweet soul. And her 20% off book at B&N. heh. Also, you are brave, brave, brave to attempt to bring beauty and light and gracious living to those souls toiling in the political fields. xoxo

Gravatar Too bad the LaShawn doesn't like the fashion blogs. In the second picture she really needs the sleeves on her blazer shortened because she had to buy it at a larger size, if you know what I mean. How many times did she have to say that our panel was boring.

Gravatar Hiya,

It was fantastic to meet you! Of course, I had the odd-man-out seat and didn't get in the photo! Arrgh!

Best,
N.t.B

Gravatar I was there today and frankly I think you're being far too kind towards Elizabeth Hayt. She was so cartoonishly elitist and self-involved (and seemed so proud of her ignorance of the internet) that at first I thought she was doing a comedy routine.

But nooooo. That was no act, much to my amusement and Hayt's discredit.

I thought you did a fine job and I liked hearing Never teh Bride and I Am Pretty NYC too. And you looked gorgeous - especially compared to that schoolmarmish scolding prig Elizabeth Hayt. (That last line was just to further fuel Hayt's paranoia about the "meanness" of the big scary blogworld, dontcha know.)

Gravatar Kristen can you post a trackback or comment on my OSM media post with the url of the Yahoo article with your picture in. I'd like to post the url as an update. Thanks.

Gravatar It always amazes me how many narrow minded people there are in this world ... some only believe a certain media should exist and yet others only want one type of content! Most fail to recognize that much can learned and gained by applying new ideas developed by others ...

They are condemned to live a rather boring existence ...

Blog on Beauty Addict

Gravatar Just for knowing, you were the excellent. Poised ,articulate and on top of your game............I neglected to mention that but I will amend.

That "let them eat cake" aristocrap fogged things up. And then that "mean spirited "comment. Ha! Who was more mean spirited than her?

When I said "demeaning to women" I just meant that it seemed like a feeble attempt to throw a bone to women in blogging (the political side of blogging is woefully short on fems).

Anyway, you were great. Me and my homeboys all thought so.

Dig your blog.................

Pamela aka Atlas

Gravatar Hey Kristen,
I was there yesterday and heard you all speak. You all did a great job. However, I'll have to agree with one of the previous commenters who said you were way to kind to Elizabeth Hayt. I also heard you saying to Christa that you tried to remind Ms. Hayt that her book is in a way like a blog.

I should also add that Elizabeth mistook me for The Urban Baby. I said no, my blog is political. Boy was she relieved.

Anway, you have a nice looking site. I will link this post later on today when I do my write up of the conference and the party. Keep up your good work!

Gravatar Oops! Sorry! I meant, I heard you talking to Kim Weinstein.

Gravatar "When I said "demeaning to women" I just meant that it seemed like a feeble attempt to throw a bone to women in blogging (the political side of blogging is woefully short on fems)."

Pamela - I totally agree with you on the above statement. Glad you clarified! There are so many other interesting topics relevant to women in blogging; Jennifer Weiner is a great example. She chats with her readers on her blog and has created a great community that has not only helped her sell books, but has changed the way authors connect with their readers. But instead, we have the vitriolic Elizabeth Hayt!

Gravatar Stopped by from Vodkapundit to say hello. I'll admit that I go for the political blogs (and military blogs) but that's just a matter of interest, not value. (I know so little about fasion that I can't even think of an appropriate equivalent to someone being such a bad cook they can't even boil water... but that pretty much covers it.)

Blogs offer a wonderful avenue of communication in so many areas other than politics. Author's blogs are a good example.

Gravatar Synova: I completely agree. Jennifer Weiner's blog is a great example; she's been able to connect with so many readers. Great tool for authors.

Gravatar Now why wasn't I invited??
