Right now I'm in love with stila shine lip color in charlotte. It's between coral and orange, and goes on rather sheer. I'm very pale, rosy cheeks, dark hair and light eyes, so the idea of even a vaguely warm lip color sends me running for the hills, but with the sheerness, my own lip color shows through for a bright, pretty effect.
I've been jealous of you fair-skinned ladies who can pull off an orange lip?
Do you think there's an orange out there that could work for a warm, olive-toned, me? Or am I stuck with the usual, tried-and-true, rust?

Sania - I also have a warm, olive-skinned complexion but I still love to rock orange shades. Nars Capucine and MAC Pink Grapefruit are two of the gorgeous lip glosses that work for me. I believe Stila also makes an orange lip gloss. On an somewhat un-related note: if you want to be super daring and experiment with orange blush, try a light dusting of Nars Taj Mahal on your cheekbones. It's sooooo gorgeous :D
I love it but have to be careful because I too am fair-skinned. I want to avoid that fake bake/neon lipstick look that you'd associate with old ladies in Palm Beach, so I always go for a very sheer lip and try not to overdose on the bronzer.
That Nars gloss intrigues me, even though the "neon" description scares me a bit. I love the texture of Nars gloss and I'm a big fan of Chelsea Gils, so I may have to give the Capucine a try.
I bought both Electro and Pink Grapefruit when they came out. I like to put them together to create my orange lip.
I love orange lippies. Sania, I am noooo where near fair and can rock a pretty orange lip. I think it's a color for everyone! Great post.
I love the orange lip look; it just so happen to be one of my "signature" looks. I generally wear MAC morange (permanent collection, more pigmented version of fresco). Make-up Forever also has a neon orange lippie, but its quality is vastly inferior to MAC and costs $4 more. Lancome's "studded" is an orangey copper w/glitter, a more coppery/rust than Shiseido's SL10 which leans more toward tangerine/coral (Clinique butter shine in "ambrosia" is a more pink grapefruit/coral version of the shiseido and has a creamier texture). For the record, I have light grey/icy blue/seafoam green eyes, porcelain skin w/warm pink undertones, & natural light blonde hair. I'm generally told that I look Scandinavian (not my actual ethnicity). I also like to wear orange eyeshadow (Nars Mediterranea, smashbox torch) but not with the orange lippie. I generally pair an orange lip with a wash of gold eyeshadow, MAC goldmine for the true orange, MAC gorgeous gold for orangey-reds (Nars heatwave, Napoleon Hara). I suppose I should also add that I actually get complimented on these looks.

I can't pull of orange very well, unless it's just a hint...I'm pretty olive-yellow, too, and too much orange...sickly. Any recs for us yellow-based ladies?

I'm a brunette with big brown eyes, my complexion is light-olive with cool undertones (I usually wear LSF in 5.5 from Giorgio Armani or MAC foundations in NC 42). I love MAC's new collection NEO SCI-FI, i actually love the peachy-orange look on me!
I'm truly in love with the following look:
LIPS: MAC lip liner in SUMMERFRUIT,which i pair with CK fully delicious sheer plumping lipgloss in 206 euphoria.
FACE: CHANEL bronzing powder SABLE D'OR (peachy-beige with gold reflects, very sheer i wear it as a powder!)and a bit of MAC NEO SCI-FI blush in spaced out just on the apples!!!
EYES: MAC NEO SCI-FI in evening aura, time&space and ricepaper, MAC FLUIDLINE in blacktrack (i usually smudge it a little so it does not have a strong impact) and loads of coats of YSL FAUX CILS mascara(I love it!!!) in black.
my favorite is the lipstick queen's sinner coral and saint coral. they are amazing!
I love orange! ive been wearings macs so chaud, and morange for years.
Orange is a great color on tanned skin and can be fun to wear, also in this season is neon eyeshadows, anything bright
NARS Taj Mahal is another great orange as Makeup Junkie pointed out, I've used it as a e/s on a number of occasions w/ great results although Smashbox Torch is probably a better option. Sephora makes a really nice jumbo eyeliner in coppery-orange that is similar in quality to Benefit's Gilded (complimentary to any orange look whether it's orange lippies or e/s).

I love orange in the summer. A favorite easy look of mine was an old Lancome gloss, long discontinued: the line was called Lip Brio and the orange shade was called Papaye. It was orange, transparent and vinyl-like, similar to the new Juicy Gelee but with more color. I dreaded the day it would finish, but Bourjois' new Eau de Gloss has a very similar shade. Oh, and both look great worn over Electro too
Just for fun I got L'Oreal Colour Juice Sheer Juicy Lip Gloss in Melon Punch a few years ago. It looked scary orange in the tube, but amazing on my lipe. I've been hooked ever since!

For olive skinned ladies (with an added vacation tan), Exhibitionist lipstick by MAC is another good one! A bit matte for the summer, but looks great.

The Orange Lip is really amazing, whatever way you use it is great, but be sure that the way you apply it fit your complexion, event attending and blend well with your dress, accessories and other make up you put on your face.
