My favorite is OPI You're a Pisa Work. Depending on the light it either looks red or bright dark pink...it's my default toe polish color and I'll wear it on my fingers in the summer.

How funny... I was just looking at my Black Satin nails yesterday and thinking the same thing - that I need a spring update! My favorite is Chanel's Ruby Slipper, but I would like to find something lighter for spring.

I'm now totally crazy for anything light pink. I love Opi's Bubble Bath, and tons of Essies- Tennis Corset, Mademoiselle, and of course the Ballet Slippers I have on know. I bought a silver, the Essie Opera recommended by Elle. It is a more subdued silver, but I haven't tried it yet. Pink just feels right at the moment.

Yep, the black is OVER. It's time for SPRING. I did my nails with Milani's Cherry Pie last weekend and I'm still loving it.
I've also been seeing a lot of navy nails...which I think is hideous. It's like the marketers thought "Oh, well black was good for winter, let's just do a lighter black for spring. Silver! Navy!" Rettchhh....
It's time for spring prettiness. Bring on the cherry pink shades please!

Hey Kristen! It's Ben form WELOVEBEAUTY.com . So glad to hear you are over the dark polish, too. I'm feling the same way. It's been sunny here in LA for a couple of months now, so we are in full Spring mode. I'm still really loving the BALLET inspriration that we are seeing with luminous natural-matte faces, buns & bangs for hair, and obviously all of the ballet inspired pinks for nails. The Essie brand was really built on these colors, and their collection offers an amazing range of natural laquers.
Do you remember when Nars launched the "Nail Gels" the poppy, yet clear colors that looked like a film on the nails? I really love that look. I don't think they are still available from Nars, but I think that would feel so fresh right now, don't you? Does anyone know if any other brand is doing this? Bye for now!

Hi! it's my first time here!
I've bought same color O.P.I that I adore BUT that lasted 24 hours! I feel disappointed because I was told it was the best nail lacquer!

Brume - oh no! OPI polishes last nearly 10 days on me, I always have good luck with them. What base/top coat are you using? I love Sally Hansen Diamond Shine, maybe try that one? Hope it helps!

About a month ago I bought bright red polish to wear this spring - a blue-red because orange-reds don't look good on me. Great minds think alike!

I love OPI nail polish! I have to admit that I was never wild about the black polish craze. I like OPI Red. It reminds me of pin-up girls. There was an OPI bright pink that I had a while ago, but I can't remember the name. It was a bright candy/Barbie pink.

I'm normally a deep red girl, but I had a pedicure with OPI's Dutch Tulips last week and I LOVE the color. I can't stop looking at my toes, it's really pretty.

As my boyfriend says I'm the inspiration of Seinfeld's "man-hands" episode, my fingersnails are always either nude or Mademoiselle (which looks MUCH better when done as a single coat of Marshmallow followed by a single coat of Mademoisell). But my all time favorite red is OPI's Bogota Blackberry...it's more of a cranberry or burgandy red, than a red-red. I do my pedi's with that about 9 months of the year. If I could buy an Aston Martin Vanquish, I'd have it painted in Bogota Blackberry. Another OPI fav is Jewel of India. Has a tad irridescent shine to it and not nearly as pink as some of the web pics I was just looking at....

I agree, I've had enough of the dark, so for the last 3 weeks, I have given my nails a rest from all polish, and am using a protein that I get from my manicurist. Soon I will be switching back to the light, which is much kinder to the nails. However, I just might try Kennebunkport to see how it looks as an inbetween from dark t o light.

I Love OPI's Aphrodite's Nighty and Dancing in the Isles...the first one is a soft lavender, lightly frosted...the second is a peach frost. I'm wearing the first one, ande it's very Spring-y!

funny. i always have--and probably always will--love deep, dark nails. But, lately, on my fingertips I've been wearing a dusty pink shade. I've never worn a color so classically conservative (I mean, conservative I'm not), but I'm actually loving pink on my fingertips. But this weekend, I think I'll go back to dark. But that's me...I've always done everything in my own time.

i've never been a huge fan of black on my nails, but i've been a gunmetal-and-silver fan for years and years so i'm thrilled it's coming back into style! i still have a bottle of old Body Shop brand polish in the wildly misnamed "Must Have Mauve," which is my fave subtle gunmetal, and i have a collection of the olf Sally Hansen chrome polishes. hurrah for the return of metallics!

i'm still hanging on to the dark ages as i just picked up MAC's vin goth. a deep subtly sparkly purple (lincoln park at midnight, maybe?) however, when i get in my moods for color... i revert to palest pinks and white on my toes and other pastel colors on my fingernails... pastel, mint green is my favorite.

Nail Health – The Long and Short of It
It takes two weeks for your finger nail to grow 1/16 of an inch! Nail growth is accelerated in the summertime and you may have noticed the nails on your dominate hand (the one you write with) grow faster than those on your other hand. New growth begins from the cells under the cuticle.
The nail itself is virtually colorless but gets a rosey hue from the blood flowing just beneath it. This transparent tip of the finger is actually fragile in its health and can be best protected by treating it more gingerly than most of us currently do. For example, instead of hammering out a phone number on your keypad with your fingernail – use a pencil instead.
Also, wear rubber gloves as much as possible when cleaning or submersing your hands in water, as the constant soaking and drying of nails causes them to weaken. Also, chemicals used in cleaning products can cause nails to weaken, thus we end up with splitting, chipping, weak nails.
Many people load up on nail polishes and “strengtheners” thinking they are encouraging faster growth and nail health, however most nail cosmetics are fully of chemicals which actually do more harm than good. A good nail strengthener can be used to provide added protection, however its most healthy to just let your nails be natural at least 1-3 months so they can grow out on their own.
Using a glass nail file is one of the best ways to grow long, strong, healthy nails. Emery boards actually tear the nail as they file. A good glass or crystal file actually seals the nail as it more smoothly glides across the nail. There is minimal harshness when filing with a glass or crystal file.
Check out Top Notch Nail Files for the latest designs in crystal files.
Be careful when cleaning under your nails. Choose a crystal file or sealed wood orange stick and do not dig out the dirt deep under the file. Use a nail brush to clean dirt and when you have to remove additional dirt from the under the nail, do so with extreme care so as not to break the skin under the nail. Doing so will cause the nail to weaken and this is another reason why nails split or chip, especially on the sides.
Calcium, magnesium, B Vitamins and minerals promote healthy, natural nail growth.

i'm over black polish too! recently i've been using essie "well red". it's a bright fire engine red that looks great no matter what! it's really bright so some people might not like it, but i love it for spring. also, it goes fabulously with navy and white nautical clothing.
i highly recommend it! but don't use it if your nails are too long because then you'll end up looking trashy.

I live in the middle of the midwest. Unlike in civilization (LA), very dark nail polish is considered quite sophisticated.
I switch between OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark and Sally Hansen's Oriential Red.
The best base and top coat that I have found to prevent chips is OPI's Designer Series Base Coat and their Designer Series Top Coat. They are well worth the price- the bottles are huge and will last forever.
Lincoln Park After Dark was named one of the best shades for meduim skin in the new In Style.
