I just wanted to let you know I've never ever questioned any of your posts in that way. It's a shame you feel you have to hold back your enthusiasm sometimes.
I do understand why some people may worry about that thing- but you don't simply cut and paste descriptions of products from the company's website like I've seen some bloggers do and leave it at that. Or only leave a small generic review that sounds like it came from an ad, or seems like it has been provided by someone from the company (maybe it's only my own paranoia... but I've noticed a people's reviews that seemed awfully impersonal, with language that is so different from what you normally see them using). But even that has never made me write off all their other positive reviews- I need to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Your reviews always have a very personal feel to them, and you often have small criticisms even for products you do love, and are quick to write off a product you don't love. You've never given us a reason to question your reviews. Keep them coming and don't hold back. I love your enthusiasm!

Kristen,
I'm SO SOLD. I've heard great things about Creme de Coco, but haven't had a chance to try it yet. I am a longtime fan of their Deeep Treatment, and it seems similar with the added bonus of smelling like vaca. And BTW, doll? I've NEVER questioned your reviews. Keep up the good work.

Hi Kristen,
Based on your review, I am definitely going to give this masque a try. I've such great things about Bumble & Bumble, but I've yet to review any of their products. What's wrong with me?
Also, if you wanna take your hair to the next level, you really need to try Moroccanoil Oil Treatment. It has rocked my world and I can't stop telling people about it.

Kristen - don't feel that way! This is a free country and people can write what they want. There is so much awful stuff out there on the web - how can anyone be concerned over the motivation of a beauty blogger who just wants to share the joy? I have gotten so many great recommendations from you - can't wait to try this hair masque!

"Pay no mind to what they say, doesn't matter anyway..." And The Go-Go's said that, so listen up. I love your blog so much that I blogrolled you...and I don't even have a beauty blog, per se.
Thanks for the rec, I am hooked on balms and masques for my hair. I was actually going to write a rave for the Biolage Ultra Balm, not just for hair, but for shaving duties. Now I'll have to lemming this one, too.

I know one can never receive enough praise so I'm going to say that the reason I read your blog over the others is your authenticity. Your posts give the good with the bad and that's what I really want to know.
Now onto BB...I too have the driest hair. It' thick and in the summer, when I go to the beach and pool often, it becomes a tumbleweed. I've tried the Creme de Cocoa conditioner and have to say I wasn't that enthusiastic. Is the leave-in truly that much better? You've never lied to me before so I guess I'll be making a stop at my salon.

Wow, this sounds awesome. Can I ask (apart from the qualities you mentioned in this post) how else you would describe your hair? Is it wavy, straight, etc.? I want to try this mask out but a lot of times my wavy hair turns too straight for my liking after most masks. Hmmm...
Also, I've only been reading your blog for a few months but I've never questioned your credibility. I love reading your posts and reviews and think you're doing an awesome job. Forget what anyone else thinks.

I use the Creme de Coco shampoo & conditioner and it makes my hair so shiny-- and mine hair tends to be dry and hyper wavy/frizzy. I used the 'gentle' Bb line before switching to Coco, and have stuck with the Creme de Coco for over 2 years, despite the price, because it ROCKS.
Will be on the lookout for the masque.
thanks!

I think your reviews are for real. It'd be cool if you snarked about bad products a bit more. Still, I've learned about some great new stuff from this blog. Chin up! You are appreciated.
Oh btw, the best thing I've ever done for my extremely fine, highlighted hair was to invest in an ionic hairbrush. You'd think it would do nothing. But the shine! Holy cow.

Anyhoo...I must try this. Like Always In Style, you had me at coconut. I need something for my dry hair that frizzes the second I leave the house - and my hair is fine, too, so I need something that won't make it limp. I'm putting this on my shopping list, for sure. i want to get my summer highlights, but feel my hair is too dry right now. Maybe this'll whip it into shape.

There is nothing wrong with gushing about a truly great product. Your blog is honest and insightful and has yet to steer me wrong. I can't wait to get my hands on this masque. Being from a small, isolated community in nothern Canada, I find it hard to find a lot of the products you've reviewed.....where can I buy Bumble and Bumble products? I did a quick Google search and it appears to be a UK company? I'm actually in the UK for the next couple of weeks and would like to snag this masque while I'm here.
Don't feel jaded; you rock Kristen!!

I've been dying to try a few Bb products (the curl creme, surf spray, and now this) but no salons in my area carry them. I hate paying shipping so I don't want to order online. Does anyone know if the salon products at Target are for real? I've seen some Bumble products there.

I am new to this blogging thing I admit, but never once have i thought you were paid to write good reviews. First of all you make harsh criticisms and give so so reviews all the time. If you could be bought (note the "could") they'd all know it and they'd all have you, so all your reviews would would be good. Ignore the people who obviously have only read one post on your blog. Ever.

Celebrity's a b**ch, huh? Thanks for doing what you do, Kristen. Your blog has had the ring of sincerity since the beginning, which is clearly visible to the unjaundiced eye. Oddly enough, the fact that you and other high profile bloggers receive oodles of products from PRs encourages sincere reviews--surely you wouldn't feel compelled to suck up to one particular company when they're all going to keep sending products in hope of even a mention.

It bears repeating: I love your blog, and one of the reasons I started reading it was because I knew I couldn't trust any of the magazines to give me sincere reviews (excepting Jean Godfrey-June!).
And I can't wait to try the Bb Coco Masque. FYI to readers like me who live in the sticks and cannot readily buy Bb: I have bought some of the products that have wound up on the Target shelves and they certainly seem to be the real McCoy.

I'm surprised people would accuse you of writing positive reviews solely for your own benefit or to push any product. One of the reasons I've loved this blog over the past three years is that the reviews are honest. I like that you tell all of your product sucesses as well as the ones that didn't work out so well. I've been introduced to so many great products that I'd love to try out when I have more disposable income. That being said, this Bumble and Bumble mask is something I'd like to try out.

Kristen--there will always be cynics no matter what you do in life. I could care less any negative thoughts people have about my reviews on my blog because they are indeed my thoughts and opinions and if they don't believe me--oh well. Just like you said--your loss.
Girl, we've been doing this too long to feel put down. Just remember that we're some of the veterans of beauty blogging and all of this backlash is due to a handful of newbies that are simply in it for the free.
That said, now I have to try this product.

Hi Kristen I just bought this product based on your recommendation and its appearance in lucky this month. I tend to be more accepting of recommendations if they appear in two (apparently) independent sources so I couldnt resist. Although my hair doesnt look perfect, I admit it does look the best it ever has in recent memory with AIR DRYING it. Which is all I have the patience to do in this terrible texas heat I live in. So thanks so much for contributing to my hair's happiness. I look forward to buying things that you say are the best!

Interesting product. Just for the record, you don't really need to keep it on your hair for 7 minutes. That is just part of the marketing story. All the conditioning happens pretty much as soon as you put it on.

I went to pick this up at C.O. Bigelow today, based on your recommendation. The clerk stopped me and said, "I don't want to pry but... while the Creme de Coco is great, it's not as good as the PhytoSpecific Intense Nutrition Mask." So I bought that instead. I'm wearing it right now and I have no idea how it will work or how it would stack up for you, but I'd love to see if you find it as effective.
Thanks!

I am way late reading this particular blog entry due to preparing for my wedding this summer, but I am also a beauty addict and was the one hauling around the trunk of makeup around to slumber parties as a kid. Anyone with this particular addiction knows a phony when she meets/hears one, and I have tried enough of your recommendations and loved them to know that you love what you love and hate what you hate. This very frequent little stop on the internet is a tiny bit of (free) beauty crack for me, and anything that makes you feel bad about writing it makes me mad. Obviously everything is opinion, and you are entitled to yours, as I am mine. Forget the people who think there are ulterior motives. Who cares. I believe you. And if people don't, they don't have to read. I love B&B, and might try this masque, as I have fine, dry hair I use a flat iron on. : ) Rock on!

I could not agree with you more on this one. I use Creme de Coco at least once a week. After applying, I put on a cheapo hotel shower cap over my hair and run a blow dryer (on a not too hot setting) over it to just really help the moisture sink in. Then I sleep in it.
