thanks for the post! i love my st. tropez tanner, but i think i commit the ultimate self tanner faux pas because i'm so afraid of breaking out on my chest (anything irritates me there) so i don't put the tanner there it's almost as bad as the white hands you described...
maybe i will be brave and try it. do you use this self tanner on your face? or can you recommend one that hasn't broken you out?

Hi mcnals! I DO use the St. Tropez on my face, and believe it or not, it doesn't break me out. It doesn't seem to have any heavy moisturizers in it, maybe that's why. I mix it with a little light face lotion and it works great. But I only do my face overnight...wearing that St. Tropez on my face in the daytime would be a horror! LOL.
For face, I also like L'Oreal Sublime Bronze. I've had good results with that one!

Thank you for the info. I have used self-tanner before(I even got a special kit from Bath and Body Works last summer)but I always mess it up.
These posts should help.
I didn't even know there was such thing as tan remover, now I know!

This is a great post! I've never used self-tanner, but I think I might need some. This Florida-girl got an uneven sunburn over the weekend. Any tips for evening it out?

Awesome post! I'm a self-tanner virgin, but I've been wanting to try it for some time before spring and summer roll around. Looking forward to more in this series!

You read my mind! I checked in to see if you had previously written about self-tanning as I have a Florida trip coming up. Already have a case of spring fever, so I'm now desperate for a tan. THANKS

If you're into self-tanners you should check out this site called Honeyshed.com
There's this one clip where the girls talk about some of the great tanners available and how to apply them so they don't streak all over your body. I'm not really a big tanning person myself but when I saw the clip I almost considered getting on board. I think you can buy the products off of the honeyshed site.

Great post, but I prefer to use latex gloves instead of scrubbing my hands. Before putting the gloves on, I rub a little burt's bees lemon butter cuticle cream on my cuticles and nuckles (the tanner often sinks into the creases). I reccomend doing this on toes too. When I'm done with my body, I take the gloves off, wash my hands and pat dry. While still a little damp, I rub the tanner in in the same way you suggested--starting with the top of my hands. I like to use a foam makeup sponge to apply to my face and tops of feet--it makes it nice and even.
