I agree with you, K in that the little girl stand-ins are a bit much. I object to the "fried chicken" remark because it pepetuates a tired sterotype. Also, using the phrase "beat her own face" to describe applying make up makes it seem a lot less fun than it is!
It kind of reeks of egotism on Tyra's part. I also kind of don't get the idea of posing as someone in a magazine when they are alive and well.

I agree that her comments are just stereotyping black women. And, I agree, it doesn't make any sort of sense to imitate someone who is still alive, especially if you look (and act) nothing like that person. I know it probably wasn't her idea, but the magazine's, but I still think it's ridiculous.
I have no trouble believing that that was Tyra's idea. God, that woman is the most self centered person I've ever seen. On ANTM these refugees will come to auditions, talking about how hungry they were, and she'll be all "oh...I know...this one day...I skipped breakfast...I was so...HUNGRY AHH." She relates everything back to herself somehow. It's ridiculous. She's a crazy bitch and nowhere near intelligent enough to be a first lady, or even pose as one.
This is something they should have waited to do until after he is (maybe?) elected.

I agree with Liz. With this pictorial, Harpers Bazaar has already presumed that Obama will win. But then, what can you expect from Bazaar, which used its previous issue as an extended ad for Estee Lauder's new fragrance?

Maybe Tyra is trying to communicate that she wants in Obama's pants, and the best way she knew how to do that was to pose in a photoshoot with her on his arm as the first lady.

I don't see the big deal - I think its kinda cool. Most people are already pissed with McCain anyways after that "celebrity ad" [he pretty much dug his own grave on that one]. Could you just imagine how pissed Cindy McCain must be seeing HB right now? Haha.

Last July (ironically while McCain's campaign was tanking) Bazaar had a big photo spread/article on Cindy McCain. She was all done up in full designer regalia, and some of the pictures featured her hubby. I would like to see more of Michelle O. I think she is stunning and I love the way she dresses!
