Gravatar I hate photoshop. It's just so...fake!

Gravatar Allure tends to do this with most of its covergirls, so I'm used to it, I guess (remember Julianne Moore, Liv Tyler, BRITNEY SPEARS?). I think it's just their "thing" to Photoshop the cover photos to hell and back, given that they're super close-up, but it makes me sad that the people (well, actresses, almost always) rarely look anything like themselves at first glance, with that creepy mannequin-perfect skin. Ugh.

Gravatar they are out of control with this photoshop. The worse was Drew Barrymore on Vogue it didn't even look like her.

Gravatar I'm getting really tired of Allure's covers. They all are super close up, smokey eye, nude lip and all of it photoshopped to unrecognizable humans. Show a little creativity people!

Gravatar @Fab - I agree.

I'd love to see Mariah with some color on her face - and I'd like to see a better hair color & style for her, too. Her face here is so blah.

Gravatar Fab over 40 - I actually think the makeup this time around is a bit different than the usual "smokey-eye Allure cover". I quite like this look - it's kind of a throwback to the early 90s supermodel makeup looks...I'm no fan of Mariah, but I love the makeup.

Gravatar I just laughed my ass off at the "chola brows" comment. Ha! I miss her "Vision of Love" days too, but I think Mimi put an end to all of that, eh?

Gravatar What's a chola?

Gravatar Ha! Chola, works too to describe this look. I was going to say she looked like a drag queen the way the makeup is painted on her face. Ugh!

Katie...this is a chola:

Gravatar I guess Pseduo Mariah sells more magazines than Genuine Mariah. I agree with you: The picture is cartoonish. The editor should have taken a Sharpie and added a speech bubble to the cartoon that said, "These are just stick-on chola eyebrows."

Gravatar I'll go one step further: This isn't a Mariah cartoon - this is a Varga portrait of Mariah!

And who is M. fooling with the winged eyeliner on that cover, anyway? At least the chola brows aren't as bad as the time when she wore braids in one of her videos, where my college housemates called her a "hood rat."

I, too, miss the big-haired Mariah circa "Vision of Love" and "Always Be My Baby." Ironically, there was an issue of Allure at that time where they interviewed a drag queen who took Mariah to task for her makeup, saying her "eyes lack character." To which I disagree, because I think Flat-Hair Mariah has even less character.

Gravatar I miss the old Mariah, too. Actually, I thought she looked great during her "Honey" days. Then it all went down hill.

Gravatar Seriously, what is a chola? I've heard it all day. The little boy who got voted off American Idol said he was chola.

Gravatar I agree. I miss the old Mariah too, the (at least seemingly) charming, sweet girl with the big voice. There isn't anything natural about her anymore - she just screams "high maintenance pain in the ass". Plus the way she insists on being photographed at this angle is just so tired!

Gravatar Yes, it is weird that she makes a definite point of not showing the left side of her face. I am not sure she has one. Did she think we wouldn't notice this after 20 years?

Gravatar Carol-LOL!

Gravatar OMG I am LMAO @ the chola thing!!

Katie did you see the boy's mother in the audience?? She was a STRAIGHT chola...

For those of you that don't know here is a photo of a pretty standard issue chola...

Gravatar The Fug Girls did one better than this cover... by adding Kenneth the Page!

Gravatar I totally agree with the statement that PhotoShop is way overused. But having said that, I'm guilty of it too. I've been known to rid a picture of a blemish or two. We're only human!

Gravatar yep, i agree. i hate it too. it's amazing what people (celebs) go through just to try to look "naturally" beautiful! apperently, all it takes is some money money money and a really great computer program!

love.

LUSH

Gravatar I agree that she looks quite alien-like in this photo. But I am, yes, used to it, like most of us are. I think the days of celebrities looking human are passed. Unless someone catches candid photos, of course. I love makeup and creativity but hate to see chances for it wasted when everyone is airbrushed to look pretty much like clones with slightly different skin/eye hues.

Gravatar Mariah is someone who looks FABULOUS with big hair. It needs to come back. And the Billy b makeup - vision - that was when he was her mua.

Gravatar omg, i so miss the vision of love mariah. i cant stand her now
