When I get stressed or overworked, the hair is always in a ponytail. Always...I cant help it, it is a thick, wavy mess and sometimes I dont want to spend 30 minutes getting it perfect.

holy cow. ladies need to get a life. we all fall into the 'i can't look in the mirror this week' thing. hope your week went well and that you get time to style and pamper for the holidays. the klorane and ojon dry shampoos are good when you can't wash your hair. stay well!

Honey, the first thing that goes is my nails. That you are able to keep polish on them at all when you are so busy is a triumph. Also blow-drying my hair - I end up blasting my car heater on the way to work so my hair is at least damp-dry. Bad, bad, bad. But I do keep Kiehl's Silk Groom on my desk in plain sight so I'll remember to use it. Also, Clinique Black Honey gets a real workout for me when I'm busy - don't have to think about coordinating colors since it goes with everything, and I can apply without looking in a mirror.

The nails and the upper lip & eyebrow waxing, in that order. I only wear polish on my fingernails for special occasions and that's only if I have the time. Eyebrows get a tweeze here and there until I can get to the salon. And when my roots have roots, my hair goes into an updo - less noticeable that way. And the makeup shifts into neutrals that go with everything!

It's a tie between nails and legs (both shaving & self-tanning, in colder weather when I can get away with it).
I haven't slept in my makeup in years. That's probably the last thing I'd slack on.
I'm curious - are you noticing any results with the scar treatment? I think you should dedicate a post to that topic. It's one of those things I bet many people are interested in - but aren't likely to admit it.

hair color is definitely the first to go for me. Mine is sad and faded now. The flip side to this coin is, what's the one thing that you are die hard about and will never give up, EVER????
No matter how pressed for time or lazy I am, I always layer on the almond oil after a shower. It's such a habit now...

Agree with Cat, my eyebrows go the Andy Rooney route. I also fall into the "using the same makeup every day" thing (a sin since I've got more makeup than Sephora). Then there's the things that are ok for a day or 2, like the creamy body wash/no moisturizer and the 2-in-1 shampoo, but if I did on a regular basis I'd be a mess.

I soooo relate. (Consciously!) Going to sleep with makeup on or NOT washing my face, pulling my hair back with a bandana or hair band cause I don't have the time to use the straightening iron, or patience for that matter. And something important also goes: speaking to my family. I get so caught up with what I'm doing that I realize a week has gone by and I haven't heard my mother give me the rundown of what's going on in the homefront. It's good to know I'm not the only one...and I bet all of us gals who get tied up in this rut are the same ones to have New Year's resolutions that are probably similar too...

Definitely my hair....I stop blowdrying it try my best to get away with running some product through it and letting it air dry. (My hair's wavy/curly and tends to get a little frizzy). As long as it's dry by the time I have to teach my class, I'm okay with that.

for me, the first thing to go is the whole blowdrying, product applying, flatironing ordeal. and also elaborate makeup is right out the window! the very LAST thing to go for me is washing off my makeup before bed, i cannot stand to sleep w/it on, and for the past 3 days i have been so sick with a horrible cold/sinus infection that i slept with the SAME mascara on for 2 nights! ick! thank god last night i took a long hot shower. i cannot deal w/sleeping with my makeup on, i personally feel that that is the worst beauty sin to commit O

The first thing to go is always my entire make-up routine. I can't stand it when my hair is neglected (it's really long), so that I usually manage to keep up even during a busy time. But with my make-up, first I stop wearing foundation, then eyeshadow, then eyeliner, and then the next thing I know I'm not wearing any concealer even though I definitely need it to hide the enormous dark circles under my eyes! Right now it's end of term so I've been pulling all nighters to finish all my term papers, and the dark circles under my eyes practically go down half my face!

For me the sad thing that goes first is beauty sleep. I can't sleep when over busy or stressed - so naturally the rest falls apart. Serious eye bags, and then it starts showing in the hair - everyday maintenance and then color.

Well - I try to shave my legs and armpits daily - so the legs go 1st - to every 2-3 days. But the thing I notice if I eat differently (i.e. Thanksgiving holiday, Christmas, etc) - it shows with what I call "eyebrow" zits - right now I have two - and then of course I start with the tweezing around it - irritating it more! I gave up on the self tanning this summer - looks great but is HIGH maintenance. Having said that - I always wash/blow dry my hair and put on the whole make up routine - unless I have some really horrid cold.

Usually shaving my legs. I'll wear pants even if it's 100 degrees out. The eyebrows get neglected too, and my nails simply don't exist when I'm stressed or too busy. I'm pretty good about removing makeup before bed, unless I'm too drunk to think about it. (For nights like these, I keep a pack of those makeup remover wipes on my bedstand so I can just rub it on my face and don't feel guilty!)

The eyebrows and hair are the first to go.
Have you tried Erno Laszlo's Phormula 3-9 on your scar yet? I used it on a spot where I had a mole removed and it worked wonders to get rid of my scar nad it is a great moisturizer (when in a rush nothing is better than a 2-in-1!).

Gosh, the first thing to go is nails. I love keeping them manicured, but sometimes when they chip and I don't have time to go in to the salon, it's au naturel. I finally got a manicure yesterday after a month and a half or something. The upper lip, leg, and arm hair removal fall by the wayside, too. However, I will tweeze out the big bad upper lip hairs when I get to my eyebrows. Oi, I'm in need of maintenance.

It sounds like you must have had a crazy couple of weeks! But we're glad to see that you're back
I'd say the first to go are my nails, my eyebrows turn into a mess and then I just stop wearing makeup. I don't moisturize my arms and legs like I should - actually, I need to do more of this when I DO have time for my beauty regimen anyway! Does anyone have some lotion?

totally understand. things that fall by the wayside for me (in order): nails, eyebrows, waxing in general, dye job/roots, split ends... I dont neglect my complexion because I break out big time if I just think of going to bed with makeup on. even if I have to just use a bar of soap. good luck, its an insanely busy time for everyone I know.

Hey, Mama... have you tried Mama Bomb? A couple of customers raved about it being good for healing scars, not weeping sores but healing scars....worth a shot. And now we have Ski Bomb, too..

Oh man, when I'm busy I end up showering every 3 days. The only thing that saves my hair from looking disgusting is a little fekkai glossing cream and garnier fructis surf wax before bed to get some glossy grunge wave going on.
I hope things slow down for you soon!

welcome back! i love your blog. I'.m jumping on the eyebrow bandwagon here. If I didn't pluck, I'd look like Frida Kahlo but somehow I totally space until its REALLY bad. Makeup routine down to bare minimum (tinted moisturiser, slap on some touche eclat and blush) then the 2 in 1 shower products, hair in a ponytail to eke out another day without washing. By the way, for the photofinish addicts, Sephora is doing a great gift set of it with mega savings.

Days like these, makeup is actually a must, because I need to hide all those signs of sleepless nights. But the rest of it? Forget it -- hair, brows, shaving... it all goes to hell.
On the positive (yeah, right) side, being too busy to eat does wonders for the waistline.

Welcome back!! I skip a shampoo. Shower caps have become very important to me. The brows go to pot too, but since my glasses obscure much of my brows it isn't obvious. (I hope!) I'm considering contacts again, but one of the factors is my brows. Will I have time every morning to put my contacts in AND fix my weird brow with the scar? Doubtful.

When I get busy (as I was last week) the first thing to go is the hair. We're talking messy bun on the head and afro on the legs. It's just too much. I also usually don't bother touching up my makeup through out the day or applying much to begin with.

I can totally relate to "falling off the wagon" both in beauty and blogging! I have a bad habit of falling asleep with makeup on especially after a night of partying and now my skin's not very happy with me. I definitely slack on the shaving legs and underarms, I'm single so it really doesn't matter that much. I have a basic makeup routine that I do everyday and I rarely go without makeup unless I'm really sick or bumming around the house. The brows get bad too but I at least try to fill them in a bit with a pencil so there's some definition! So trust me, you're not the only one to let things slip by the wayside!

Never worry about us hating you honey, you have enough in your archives to keep us going. I am in the same blue funk. Everything has gone to pot. With me self tanning goes first, then nails, hair is a nest on my head, skin looks like hell, and i have gained weight--at least I have something to look forward to for the new year---something to work on. Believe it or not, ran out without my make-up on to buy groceries and nobody recognized me!!! What a hoot!!! Later--Perye
