Vincent Longo's Baby Balm lipsticks are my HG everyday lip color; I love Tawny Mauve. I haven't tried the other formulas, but this post has inspired me.
I also had similar results with the Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo (major flyaways, and my scalp still felt oily). With the time it took to brush all the product out of my hair, I could have washed it.
So glad to see more Pampered Mama posts!

I know what you mean about the Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo. I always seem to use too much or not enough. Don't give up on dry shampoos, though! Try Ojon's Rub Out. It's aerosol, so it goes on much easier, and the results are worth it. Good luck!

Hmm, I've always had good results from the Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo. The only complaint I have is that it takes AT LEAST 20 minutes to brush it out of my hair or else my whole head looks grey (I have dark dark dark hair), but I love the scent, and it definitely absorbs all the oil I have. It's my go-to product for when I just want to get one more day out of my blow dry.

OK. I admit. I have no idea what a dry shampoo is. Should I?
I found you from today's NYT piece on Beauty Bloggers. You have a wonderful site here.
All the best,

I love bumble&bumble's aerosol hair powder, same concept and does wonders for creating volume while degreasing. I use the white even though I have dishwater blonde hair. Follow the directions, and lift hair with a comb to get at the roots properly. It will seriously buy you 2 more days of not shampooing. It has saved my ends as I'm growing my hair out!

Thank you all for your suggestions! I am going to try them and let you know the results. Julie: That's my whole issue, I don't have 20 minutes to brush it through. I wish I did because I also love the smell of it, that was a catalyst to purchase.

Oscar Blandi is awful! I thought it was just me. Try Klorane dry shampoo you spray in. It's the best and I've tried themall. I get it a www.Folica.com. Sephora also has one, Ojon which has a strong smell and is almost as good as the Klorane if you're stuck. The Longo colors look good, will try one next time I'm at Sephora.

I just finished reading the NYTimes article and I'm pretty floored. I knew, and expected, that you (Kristen Kelly aka Beauty Addict), as a well known beauty blogger received free products. But I never thought you would let it color your reviews! I am quite disappointed to learn that you temper your reviews on products you dislike. I always liked the fresh, honest tone to your writing. Given the time and effort it takes to write this blog, I thought you were passionate on this topic and never thought you would review poor products “sensitively.” I’ve lost my trust in you (whatever trust I put into reviews on a random blog), and doubt I will read your blog again.

Lux - I'm sorry you feel that way. I was horrified by the way beauty bloggers were portrayed in the piece, that we were all made out to look like greedy women out for free product.
My comments in the story were taken completely out of context. I explicitly told the reporter that I DO run negative reviews even if a product was a sample. If it's bad, it's bad. On top of that, I get plenty of things that I don't even bother to post about, if they're just not good or not exciting.
When I made the comment about approaching reviews with sensitivity, I meant that I try not to slam an entire BRAND on the basis of one single PRODUCT. E.g., there's a huge difference between saying, "this color didn't work for me" or "the texture was too thin" and saying "this is a horrible product and so is everything from Brand X!" When posting a negative review I just try to be fair...whether the product was a press sample or not.
If you look back through my archives you'll find plenty of negative reviews, many of which are about products I received as samples. Smashbox O-Glow is a perfect example.
I assure you that I AM passionate about this topic and I am also passionate about being honest.
Kayleen Schaefer's piece in the Times did a huge disservice to all beauty bloggers. I'm sorry that it's changed your opinion of this site, and I hope you'll at least come back to read my response.

Lux -
You read the NYTimes article but obviously did not read the many Beauty Addict posts in which she tastefully "rips apart" the products that she doesn't like. Perhaps the "sensitivity" comes in with the way she words her posts. Kristen is an honest, humorous and "sensitive" blogger.
Don't believe everything you read!

A - thank you, this is exactly what I mean. I just try to be balanced and not unnecessarily mean when I word my posts, especially the negative ones. But when I don't like a product, you can tell!

I was actually considering buying the Oscar Blandi dry shampoo b/c I heard it had a lemon scent to it, which seemed nice. But, I won't be trying it out now. I've been using the Ojon dry shampoo, and it's done it's job in terms of freshening up my hair, but since my hair is fine it gets really oily, so this isn't quite enough for me. Bumble and Bumble and Cake Beauty both have great hair powders in shades of brown and blonde. I think they work 10x better than the spray versions. Try it out!

After reading the comments above, I read the NY Times article. I think Kristen was very honest, and it's clear the reporter included facts to present her own ideas about bloggers and freebies. I've read most of Kristen's posts and have seen her write many poor reviews (always well done, btw). So what if she gets free stuff? She's still being honest. I review makeup on my own blog (although it's not a dedicated beauty blog), and I'd love to get free products to review for my readers. Don't worry, Kristen; you're doing an excellent job.

E - See, I had AWFUL results with the Bumble & bumble hair powder. It made my hair look "dusty" and I couldn't stand the texture. Every time I shook my head, some of it came out! But I've heard so many people swear by it. Different strokes...LOL.

As a fellow Beauty Blog Editor I'd like to applaud Kristen for her always honest and entertaining reviews. Kristen makes a very good living as a marketing exec for an International firm, her obsession with make up is sincere and earnest as are her reviews.
It's a shame that Kayleen Schaeffer would choose to portray beauty blogs in such a negative light, it is a huge disservice not only to beauty bloggers but to the readers of beauty blogs who have come to trust and enjoy their daily dose of morning blogs.
The reality is that beauty blogs have forever changed the relationship between consumers and manufacturers.
Rock on Kristen- love you! xoxo

Well, I also want to tell Kristen, as I already have numerous times today, that I think she is incredible, and as is typical of our news media these days, they take the snippets out of context and twist them to make the words of another fit their own agenda. What a shame for a paper that is renowned for their Fashion and Style sections, considered the bible by many. I have been since day one an avid fan of everything Kristen does, but particularly her beauty advice.

I love Oscar Blandi's Dry Shampoo- both the powdered and the aerosol versions. I figured out the first time I used the powder, though, that it has to be used sparingly. I generally tilt the bottle no further than sideways (parallel to the floor) and squeeze quickly and gently, moving it all around my head with the tip of the nozzle at my roots. Then I work it in with my fingertips for a few seconds before brushing it out. (I saw Oscar do this himself on QVC.) I tried Bb's hair powder, and I didn't like the texture AT ALL. I was really glad I only bought the travel size can.

Don't let the haters get you down, Kristen.
As a beauty blogger who doesn't receive free samples, much less post about them, I can say honestly that the blogs that I read post both negative and positive comments on the products they review. It's pretty obvious which ones are simply PR pieces and which ones have bloggers who love what they do and do it well.
Obviously, there is a problem out there, and it's going to be up to the readers to figure out what blogs offer quality content and which don't. Obviously, Beauty Addict is one of those which I will continue to read!

Just wanted to send my support to you Kristen! I really can't add much to what your other loyal readers have said. I sensed a lot of issues with that reporter - I think she wants to be a beauty blogger and have people really care about what she writes!!

I, too, am disappointed with the Oscar Blondi dry shampoo. As the mom of a 2 year old, I don't have time to wash and style my hair everyday, and I thought this would be a helpful product. However, like another poster, it made my hair look gray (I'm a brunette) and didn't really seem to work at all - the excess oil was still there - did I do something wrong? Maybe it works better on blondes? I think I will try again with a dry shampoo, but will try Bumble & Bumble sine they have different shades to match you hair color.

Laura-
That's EXACTLY how I feel b/c I think I am a pretty smart brunette woman, but I looked like I had dumped baby powder into my hair. I am also going to try the Bumble and Bumble and let people know how that works. Thanks for reading!

Thanks for your open & honest opinions. I just started reading your blog, and so far you've been right on. Don't worry about the nay-sayers, just keep doing what's right.
As for the dry shampoo, I have to say I've never even considered using it!! I DO have some at home, but it's for use on my doggies not people! I love how it works on them and how clean and fresh they smell. I wonder if I'm missing something... LOL!

I love the Palm glossy gloss from SeneGence Celebrity Makeup of California. The best ingredient is the Shea Butter. If you wear LipSense with a different gloss the LipSense won
’t stay on as long. You have to use the Senegence Lip gloss with the Senegence Lip color to make it stay on all day. I tried it once with a gloss I purchased at the drug store and my LipSense was off in about 1 hour. The Shea Butter gloss that SeneGence provides to go with the LipSense really does the trick. Not only does it keep the LipSense on longer but if you use it every day, you will never have dry lips. I love this product! If you would like to order the gloss or more of Senegence products go to http://www.senegence.com/celebritymakeup
