Yeah, when I was 4, my brother died. It was rough because I didn't understand he was gone forever.

But in all seriousness, please don't downplay the help you've provided because of your experience in the area of grief.

You were a HUGE help to me when I lost my stepdad while our youth group was in Chicago my senior year. While I was packing up to come home, you were the only person I wanted to see because you actually understood what I was going through...and would understand why I would rather laugh than act bummed.

Just your look when you came in the room and the hug you gave me were enough. And the verses you shared with me that day - I actually asked that they be put on the program for his funeral. My whole family benefited from you sharing with me your experience of losing a parent.
