Welcome to the Commenting Pixie Party!

Gravatar Yes, I feel lonely when I am the only one who owns a particular book.

Gravatar Yay for Baby Blue! Standing ovation, indeed.

Gravatar Which book are you feeling lonely about? I haven't done Library Thing yet.

Yay for Baby Blue!!!!!

Gravatar I'm curious about the favorite book too.

(And I would never have the patience to type all my books into the computer so I doubt I will ever do the library thing.)

Gravatar Awww, Baby Blue's so clever!

I also don't think I'd have the patience to do the library thing, but would love to know what the favourite book is...

Gravatar jo(e), you only have to type in ISBNs or some little bit of the book -- a few words from the title, for example. It looks up the rest of it for you. It is so way cool. You can type a few in while you're waiting for other pages to load...

Liz, I'm sort of surprised at the sheer volume of books I have that no one else has entered yet -- I expected a handful of them, but it turns out I have almost 120 orphan books. And can it really be true that so few people have read Randall Jarrell's The Animal Family, or Maria Gripe's Hugo and Josephine?

Gravatar Remember that the early adopters of Library Thing were from the geekish set more than the bookish set...which is why twelve people have books by _me_ and no one has the books you referenced above.

Gravatar I disagree, Julie. Twelve people have books by you because *you rock*.

Gravatar heh. no.

Gravatar Phantom, I LOVE Hugo and Josephine, and still own it, but as CG is too young for it at bedtime so it'll be a while before it hits my library list.

Someone should start a post with a list of Library Thing onlies--now that would be a cool way to get book recommendations. Two of my onlies at the moment are "more more more" (which I think everyone with a baby owns, no?) and *Unconditional Parenting.*

Gravatar I'll do it, I'll do it! That'll be a fun meme. Except none of my onlies are "fun" really, but whatever. Good idea, Susan!

Gravatar Ah, Susan, thank you for restoring my faith in the universe!

And I agree with Julie -- brilliant meme idea. With the extra bonus that maybe we'll convince some more people to start using Library Thing...

Gravatar yes! Everyone should use LibraryThing. I've played the game.

Gravatar You mean there's another thing I need?

Gravatar Yes, Songbird. And me, too. I need to know why everyone's gravatar is working again but mine. Sniff.

Gravatar There are only eight thousand users at LibraryThing. Everyone should sign up NOW. You don't even have to do your books right away, just make sure you get your preferred nom de plume.

It sure is so way cool. Like, all the fun of going to people's houses and surreptitiously checking out their bookshelves, only without actually having to go to their houses, or be surreptitious.

Apart from anything else, just at the moment while there are so few people there, it's just a beautiful little demographic: the techie booknerds of the internet. The library I share the most books with belongs, way unsurprisingly, to Ellen Moody, one of the very first people I "met" on the internet.

Gravatar I never thought of it as being 'lonely' on my solo-listed books, I just always thought I was a loser for being the only person with 'Digital Photography for Dummies' among many...but I went ahead and listed all of our Sandra Boynton books too

Gravatar Phantom, neither is my gravatar.

Gravatar My librarything list is pitifully small because most of my books are at home. I have a lot more books I like less here, too.

Gravatar Ooh, I'm going to have to get in on this... sounds like fun. And an excellent way to procrastinate to boot.

Gravatar Okay, I'm convinced. I have to get my nickname if possible.

Gravatar I got it, but I neglected to capitalize. Sigh. LibraryThing is really cool. I can see what I will be tempted to do at the office this week!

Gravatar I move to make signing up for LibraryThing compulsory.

Gravatar I second Tim (Mr. LibraryThing)'s motion.

Gravatar I played, too!

Gravatar I was startled to discover that I was until recently apparently the only owner of "Complete Works of Shakespeare, with Illustrations by Rockwell Kent." Even now there's only one other copy listed.
