Welcome to the Commenting Pixie Party!

Gravatar Just let me at that Mean Kid.

Gravatar I do not know how I would live if I was allergic to any ingredient in pizza, otherwise known as the world's perfect food.

I also would like to join the Baby Blue "No talking to non-family" Club.

Gravatar You can try installing AbiWord on your MacBook. I've run it on my PowerBook.

Big sadness re the pineapple.

Gravatar As you know, we have become the House of The Food Allergies this past year. Fun, it ain't, as you know.

My daughter is still devastated that she can no longer eat kiwis, mangoes, papaya, or coconut. Since pineapple is in the same family, she avoids it as well.

Zilla was happy that Mama will make him homemade pizza with the one brand of salami that doesn't contain dextrose and only has natural flavors, which while corn derived, don't affect him as strongly in very small amounts.

Our diet is eerily similar to your family's diet these days.

Hope you are catching some rest while BB is at school.

Gravatar So far, 2008 has been pretty craptastic. That said, no one here has broken out in hives.

Big hugs to kids who get splashed or whose computers are buggy.

Gravatar Hmm, 2008.

Depression/anxiety. (not mine)

Outrageously stinky poop. (not mine)

Outrageously dramatic temper tantrums. Daily. (also not mine)

So I guess it could be worse.

Gravatar Oh, the agonies of the allergic. Hugs and a new favorite pizza topping to LG!

And a tear or two for BB's reduced enjoyment of the beach. That is a bummer. But RED LIGHT seems like a good response, and it doesn't even count as talking.

On the opposite end of the spectrum we can't get our kid to stop talking to people. She is seriously obnoxious. Will she grow out of it? We begin to despair.

Gravatar I have the opposite problem of BB's -I don't like talking to some people who are in my family. Unfortunately, RED LIGHT doesn't seem to stop them from talking at me.

Hmmm. That's kind of 2008 in a nutshell, so far.

Gravatar I love that she feels fine with "RED LIGHT." I might have to try that. I learn a lot from your kids.

My condolences to LG on the pineapple. We're pineapple pizza eaters around here too, so I can imagine how awful that must be. I hope he finds a new favorite to replace it.

Gravatar Hugs to LG on the possible pineapple prohibition.

And I love the idea of using RED LIGHT as a way to stop teh bad behaviors of others.

Gravatar I magically grew out of my pineapple allergy (and along the way it got mild enough that as long as I didn't touch any skin with the pineapple while getting it into my mouth, it wasn't so bad, although I could only eat a couple of pieces at a time). I hope LG's isn't permanent either.

I can understand BB not wanting to talk to non-family members. I also hope "RED LIGHT!" works for her (I kinda wish I were brave enough to try it myself).

*hugs* to both of them

Gravatar Geeky Boy found out this summer he's allergic to shrimp. And he absolutely loves shrimp. His reaction isn't the usual though. He actually pukes. It's horrible. We haven't had him tested, but I think we will before we head to the beach.

Gravatar I like the RED LIGHT method too. I'm so sorry about the allergy concerns - such frightening episodes the hives.

Gravatar Oh, hugs to both LG and Geeky Boy. I don't know what I would do without pineapple, but I especially don't know what I would do without pineapple pizza.

I hope the installation of AbiWord on your computer fixes the XML gibberish problem.

Gravatar Pizza has become a staple food around here too and it would suck mightily to get an allergic reaction to any pizza ingredient or topping (especially black olives). I hope it was a one-off.

Not to freak you out further, but don't underestimate hives as one can get them internally (esp. esophagus and lungs) as well.

2008 around here is cute but sleepless.

Gravatar BB is so sweet. Is it wrong that I would like to kick mean kid in the teeth?

I hope LG is able to eat pineapple again. Maybe it was just that pineapple.

Gravatar "Things that I hope will magically go away." What a nice phrase to wrap up 2008 so far at our house. And also "cute but sleepless," thanks swissmiss.

I hope BB can say "red light" to that mean kid and LG can do so to the pineapple allergy. Sorry to hear of the new developments on both fronts.

Gravatar When my child finds a bathing suit in a drawer, she puts it on. No matter the temperature or the weather. I finally confiscated them all.

Gravatar oh, poor LG. hives are nasty.

i love BB's solution! RED LIGHT is now my favorite phrase.

Gravatar Hives are no fun. What a bummer to have it be a food he loves putting on another food he loves!
Red Light, indeed. Can I try that with my ex?

Gravatar LOL. I am definitely going to yell "red light" at someone tomorrow!

Gravatar I'm sorry about the pineapple reaction--how scary! And sorry, too about the bugs. I wish I could offer help but can't--I can offer sympathy, though.

Gravatar Good luck with the RED LIGHT stuff.

Tell Baby Blue I don't like splashing either. Unfortunately, in my case - it is almost always people much much smaller than me doing the splashing.

Gravatar Yes, RED LIGHT is clearly a winner.
My shift key is sticky after a certain coffee meet laptop incident, so I feel your no capslock pain.
And I hope the allergy is transient. And all better now. Hives suck.
LG and BB rock.

Gravatar Sorry about the allergic reaction - that does sound scary for you guys. And poor LG having it possibly be a favorite food (and a nice healthy one). Hope it is transient and/or turns out to be something else that's easily avoidable.

and BOO to the mean kid.

Gravatar I had a slice of pineapple pizza today and thought of LG. What a bummer for him, and you.

I suppose at least he'll always have Pasta.

Gravatar Oh no!!! No food allergies, no!

You know you have my full sympathy there. Poor LG. And I totally know the worry. Have you gotten an epi-pen prescription yet? It helped to ease my mind quite a bit, just to know we had epi and benadryl on us at all times.

Gravatar So good to come by and see how you and yours have been....I'm proud to report that 2008 is starting out very well for me and mine.

Gravatar And M! You can remind her that she likes talking to M!

Gravatar Baby Blue is a genius. Want to arrange the marriage betwixt her and Hosea now, or wait a few years?

2008, for me, has been viscous and challenging.
