Counteract Now: Where The Right Is Not Right

Gravatar The Internet should be a medium for the freedom of expression, not repression.

Censorship of the media and the Internet helps conceal human rights abuses. In China that means execution statistics remain a state secret, important news events go unreported, historical events aren't taught in schools and people whose rights have been violated are frightened into silence.

Think Tiananmen Square, Tibet, Taiwan.

Gravatar Absolutely Kim. The repression of the Chinese people by the Chinese government is an absolute disgrace. The authorities believe it is the only way for the top cats to remain in power... by crushing independent thought. The international community needs to be tough with China on their human rights record, without thinking about the economical consequences of such actions. It's a shame that money talks a different language than you and I and money will always triumph over human rights.

Great work at the Uncensor site by the way. I thoroughly enjoy reading it.
