Dude, way harsh--and uncalled for. I've spent 25 of my 27 years in Orange County, and these are not distorted perceptions. They are not solely representative, of course. I grew up in the racially and economically diverse parts of Orange County--I went to Prospect Elementary (Orange); my parents and I currently live in South Tustin (near Santa Ana), and I went to Tustin High. I was born in Santa Ana. My dad uses Aqua Net and my mom's purse is from Mervyn's.
But, my hardworking immigrant siblings have moved to nicer neighborhoods in West Irvine and in Laguna Niguel, and I have hung out periodically in Newport Beach's Fashion Island--do you really dispute the prevalence of Louis Vuitton and Burberry bags? Also, hanging out with Asian kids in the '90s--yeah, a lot of gel. Even middle parts and hair antennae.
That Cheesecake Factory in Newport Beach is very popular, I will tell you.
I've actually never watched that show. Read this blog more often, and I've attested to this.

The bizarre thing about LV handbags is that they're extremely ugly.
As a former 17-year resident of Irvine (and graduate of Irvine High), I can personally attest to Belle's description of South Orange County as being entirely accurate. In fact, I would argue that she is down playing its level of pretentious.
And Belle - I think "Chili's" is actually spelled c-r-a-p-p-y-f-o-o-d. But now I'm nitpicking.
