You're right about crochet. I learned to do it when I was a kid but all the patterns looked wonky to me. But now, there are so many that are gorgeous. I'll have to get out my hooks and have a go at one.
I hope that today is better than yesterday, and that the rest of the cardi goes well.
There were two things that turned me off to crochet when I was younger.
1) My mother and all my aunts crocheted, and I was a rebel and wanted to be different.
2) I just remember those accrylic monstrosities afghans in really ugly colors that my aunts made.
You're so right, with the internet and the resurgence of natural fibers, it is a great time for crocheters.

I think we shouldn't have to go to work at all and endure all that crapness. It's a creativity killing hell with flourescent lights (well mine is anyway). We should all be at home crocheting great cardies instead. And writing prose. (I'm not really kidding either).

you're so right about the daggy crochet patterns! But haven't they come along leaps and bounds in the last few years even? We have a good number of crocheter's in our SnB and I'm in awe of what they're producing in the way of garments.

Gorgeous cardigan, I'm glad it's helping to smooth the rough edges out for you, and that the wine will finish the job if the handiwork doesn't. Moving sounds like it will be a pain in the ass, are you all in charge of just moving personal belongings, or are you moving everything? I hope the weekend is better for you, with mild, soft weather and lots of opportunities to relax.

I'm not usually a fan of crochet - though I did make and wear several crocheted garments and accessories in the seventies! But this cardi is going to be lovely. I particularly like the deep blue / grey colour.
I wish I could crochet! Mine is all wonky. *Pouts*

Absolutely gorgeous cardy. You know I can see this in my mind in an old gold, it would be gorgeous to wear out somewhere special instead of a shawl or something when dressed up.

I know what you mean--there are a few crocheted projects that work up WONDERFULLY--and there are a few where you simply look at it and think, "A knitted fabric would just look better..."

I have to say you look very Forties film star glamorous in your photo. The cardi is looking fine and the colour suits you so well. Sometimes a change of craft is as good as a holiday. I hope you have a better day tomorrow.
The cardi is lovely and so is its creator. You make me itch to grab a needle and go to work. Maybe when it's not so dreadfully hot. It will give me something to look forward to.
