Oh Bells, I didn't know the story about George's stash how absolutely funny. I can't imagine where I'd even store that much yarn! hahaha Heck. I'm thinking my little stash, errrr George, isn't looking too bad.
What a fabulous weekend it sounds like you had, I am extremely jealous. That pic from the lookout is just gorgeous.
So glad you had a fabbo weekend, but glad to have you back.

I don't think George will ever forgive you for using her name in vain, though

I am loving your food and scenery pictures! The glaciers flattened Michigan, so mountains are something we do not have. And the green is a treat in the snow!

What a lovely view. We don't have mountains here in New Jersey either. We are just barely above sea level and the sandy soil confirms that. What a wonderful weekend. The internet has done amazing things bringing friends together. And Australia is not the only place where folks (mostly young men) celebrate by taking off their shirts and drinking and yelling in the street. Only here, they do it in winter during football season. Dumbasses. I always wonder if they get frostbite.

Thank you so much for including us on your marvelous weekend! I feel as if I've just had a mini vacation "down under."
Although I see a lot of value in re-naming my stash George, I have enough trouble with muggles not understanding me. When I go into ecstacy over finding size 3 20 inch Addi circs, there is a severely limited number of people who can share my joy. If I grin and confess that I have been engaged in George enhancement . . .

Since I did Australia Day activities in my very American classroom on Friday, I believe that I have earned the right to do a little George Shopping, myself. I probably won't have as much fun as you guys, though. And I don't get a long weekend...
But I can make it work. I'm sure of it!

I am SO envious of you guys and your crack - I mean - knitting parties. And I LOVE the idea of George. I think we could even use it as a verb: I'm going to "George-up" now, for example. Anyway, it all sounds like wonderful fun - wish I'd been there!

I thoroughly approve of the idea of George (if only because it stops my husby hassling -though he may become a little perturbed if I go and roll in 'George'!!
Great weekend - lucky ducks!

Sounds like you had a fabulous weekend! Enjoy the rest today! [Monday]
Did you see the B [on the Gold Coast]on the news last night: "What other country celebrates its national day by a few drinks and abusing the authorities? Only Aussies mate!" Hmmph!

Sounds like the perfect weekend! What could be better than knitting together with so many wonderful friends? I am so jealous you all get to spend time together in person. The picture from the mountaintop is breathtaking, the drive up must have been spectacular.
Oh, and I wholeheartedly approve of naming stash after the patron saint of stash herself. If anyone deserves it, it's Georgie.

What a fantastically wondrous weekend!! And I just want to say, By George, I think she's got it!!!! I saw Australian young people who had drunk too much rioting on TV, fighting each other and the police. They were mostly under 18 and Proud of Themselves??? I muct just be getting so old as I think this is so silly.

Very glad you've had such a lovely trip, and that you're home safe and sound!
We had bogans keeping us awake at 2.30am on Australia Day (well, the day after, technically speaking) WITH police :/
Stunning photos, and yummy stuff there at Donny's!!
Heh. George. Heh.

Ok, ok, you can all lay off snorting the acrylic. It may have been 291 balls in one hit, and I may have increased my stash by 200% in one hit, but I think I still dont come close to lots of others I could name in overall size, hmmm? Ms enough-sock-yarn-for-at-least-50-pairs, for example??
Seriously, it is kinda funny, and Im strangely honoured, although I havent told Beloved yet!
It was a fabulous day, bogans aside - thanks girls!!

What a fabulous way to spend a day on the Australia Day weekend! Love the idea of calling the stash 'George', but I've been known to say "I'll have to have a root around in the stash to see if I can find.....". Hmmmm...not sure replacing the word stash with George would be a good thing to do in this instance. Especially in public. ;o)

It sounds like a fabulous weekend--and I'm SOOO on board with calling my stash 'George'. (Although my husband had a very naughty term for 'stash-diving' that way!)
And if it makes you feel any better, Mate and I absolutely LOATHE the 4th of July for the same reason. Boy, do the idiots take off their cloaks and masks, don't they?

Sounds like a wonderful holiday. When the Duke and I er- "celebrate" Independence Day (our national holiday) it isn't just that the morons come out, it's that my husband and most of the male members of his family turn into said morons- and all of this without alcohol.
I hate fireworks, and well, when you give boys permission to play with things that explode, they are going to push their limits I guess.
I just stay inside and knit.

Terrific post Bells, what a fantastic weekend it sounds like you had.
I'm all for calling the stash George, it's big enough, and hard to contain, but I'm in awe of the original George, wow, what a story!

My family used to call leftovers George, like a good friend the food stayed to visit. Thanks for reminding me of that family quirk
