Sweet Swinging Albert came very close to making the cut but the piece was getting way too long. It came down to him or Vlad. I could have listed dozens of more names in the good and evil categories.
I'm a huge Reds fan (great game today!) but your Cards still ended up well represented in it: Stan the Man, the Gas House Gang, the Wizard, Dizzy, Eck, the great Jack Buck and, of course, Harry Caray (whose name ended up misspelled as "Carey." I don't know how I didn't catch that). And probably a few others. I haven't read it in awhile.
Oh yeah. I found your blog by Googling my own name. I guess that's kind of pathetic. But I'm surprised how many people have linked to that McSweeney's piece.
Well, Vlad does have an MVP. But he doesn't have a scary Nike mask!
The Cardinals' representation was more than adequate, we just have an inferiority complex. Musial had to get a dispensation from Selig to be included on the All-Century Team; not enough people voted for him. And that is very wrong.
And yeah. Great game yesterday. Ballsy move walking Larry to get to Pujols. I can't believe it worked.
