Here's what I;m wondering: Tony seemed to leave Carp in too long last night, and he's been doing it with Marquis for over a month now it seems. At what point is it the pitcher's job to tell Tony "It's time to take me out" Can he even do it, or would that just destroy his rep in the clubhouse? it wouldn't seem like that big of a deal if he really was gassed, it would be in the team's benefit to bring in a fresh reliever, although Izzy makes me question that sometimes (there are times I'd rather see Soup at 120 pitches than Izzy, just because it would be over quicker. Izzy loves to drag it out.) |

I think every starter wants to finish the game. And it seems like Tony doesn't have a whole lot of confidence in his offense and is letting the starters stay in a little too long when the team is behind. Which seems silly, cause he has a good pen. With Carp, I'm not usually too worried about him pitching into the 9th, but I'd like to see him taken out earlier as the season winds down to conserve him for later. |
