The progressive commercial lady always reminds me of Lorelei Gilmore without any of the charm or things you love about her. Basically over caffeinated, loud, and too talkative.

Someone else said that! I can't see it though, although "over-caffeinated, loud, and too talkative" does describe the Progressive woman perfectly.

You referenced Awkward Michael Corinthos! You win all the points. God, I hated that kid.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that about the Jacksons. Plus with them all fiddling with the microphone...it was like they made that girl go up there and speak. I doubt they did, but it was one of the first things that went through my mind.
I hope that girl can stay out of the limelight for a while. Is it too much to hope that the paparazzi stay away from her and her brothers?

I don't know anyone who likes the Progressive lady. I hate her hair and eye makeup, personally; I always wonder if she is trying to be all rockabilly or something, but it's not working... but yeah: SHUT UP ALREADY. Not impressed.
Spudface children, ahhh! I hadn't seen the GH kid before, but come on now: what is the deal with casting homely boys? They would never cast a homely little girl, I bet. Not that I want to see a run on ugly little girls or anything, but, equal opportunity would be nice in this case. I hate Two and a Half Men so much anyway, and I think that kid really might be a big part of my reason. The other part is Charlie Sheen and Ducky= not the most appealing people to watch for half an hour. Ugh.
We have McDonalds commercials out here featuring the sign-spinners; the kids on the corners spinning all spazz-like so you can't even tell anymore what the sign they're advertising is supposed to say. I heard McD's is doing all these regional-specific commercials, so that might be why I don't see dancers; I see sign spinners. And I HATE IT. That is a traffic hazard, not something that should be celebrated. That is something that should get a kid shot.
And yeah, BACK OFF JACKSONS. The way they grabbed the mic and were like "speak up!" to her when she was trying to talk was painful. Let go, get your grabby hands off of her and out of her face. Poor kid.

lengli - They replaced him, right? I like to think it was because he finally got too creepy, even though I know they probably just wanted to quick-age the character.
lora - I know! Is awesome. Or vaguely creepy. One of those.
SA - I doubt the paparazzi will stay away, but I also doubt the Jacksons (Joe in particular) will pass up an opportunity to use those kids for attention. Ick.
Lisa - You know there are people who actually like the Progressive lady? I was contemplating posting a picture and I stumbled on to these people who think she's hot, cute, etc. WTF commercials have they been watching?
There must be (equally awful) regional McDonald's ads all over the place. I'm trying to picture this sign-spinning, but I just can't.
And I forgot about them fixing the mic for her! When she started crying! Gah, attention-whoring-by-proxy alert!

If you ever need someone to hold down the Progressive Lady (HATE!) or Ina Garten (please let me not get started on the hatred and how she does this smug little laugh every time she does ANYTHING like OH MY GOD I'M SO PLEASED WITH MYSELF FOR JUICING A LEMON HEH HEH), you can give me a call.

Ha! You know what you can do for me? If you're ever stumped for blog fodder, feel free to post about why you can't stand ol' Ina. I'd love to read your take on her.

loved all of these but the one about Ina was my favorite - it totally creeps me out how she's always preparing something special for her creepy husband (that can't stand her so much that he works "in the city" all week and only comes home on the weekends) that includes cocktails and some weird friends. don't get me wrong, i'm all for cocktails, but something about her and jeffrey getting sloppy drunk on the weekends makes me cringe!
oh, and also? i'm so with you on paris hilton. i put her in the same category as jessica simpson. bleh.

Rhi - Seriously? Why? Like, who saw this kid and thought it was okay to put him in front of a camera? NOT CUTE is right.

I would like to find those people who think that the Progressive lady is hot, cute, etc. and punch *them* in the face. That would be big fun, I think.

Everything you listed I HATE TOO! And to top it off, my husband thinks Flo (I even hate the name Flo because it makes me think of...you know, Aunt Flo) is adorable and spunky. Two words he has never used in his entire life. I mute her commercials when she comes on to spite him.
The whole Jackson family pissed me off during that memorial. They all acted like they each loved Michael more. And how they pimped out Paris was just horrible...I even think that dramatic grasp by Janet was a bit over the top. I fear for those children.

NOOOOO she's not adorable or spunky! I think I would be forced to kick the TV if I lived with someone laboring under that delusion. Your poor husband.

Ha ha, you're old. I remember my grandmother watching a Welch's Grape Juice commercial and griping about how ugly kids on TV were these days.
But I like the Coke/Diet Coke commercials where people dance.
We have a pair of sign spinners here in our small suburban town and I think they're cute. They just teenagers and seem really into it, like they're trying to have fun with an otherwise boring, demeaning job. I was like, Yeah! The Man can't make you just sit there with a sign! I didn't realize it was a 'thing.' Agree that they make the signs illegible, and don't generate any affection for the sign-maker. Then again, I wouldn't have much affection for New Homes Available from the 400,000s anyway.
What creeps me out is when I see grown men in suits standing on corners, sadly shaking the signs. That makes me really sad. I try to avoid eye-contact and thinking about it too much.
