I read today something a comrade wrote; secularism is the theory of seperation of church and state in the abstract, atheism is concretely the seperation of church and state.
Benny Watcher, you've got to cut the Pontiff some slack. Remember he had a heavy childhood in the German Boy Scouts.
Dead people stink to kingdom come, and they leak all sorts of gunk. So personally, I wouldn't have them in the house, and certainly not in the parlour runining the sofa and the shagpile carpet. Benny is only being cautious in not inviting them round to the Vatican for tea and Bourbon bickies.
I do think, however, that Benny may have some problems with aspiring suicides, whose commitment to life may seem lacking in his eyes, although I'm prepared to regard them as just going through a difficult phase. And Doctor Jack Kervorkian is probably not on Benny's Christmas card list either.
Back when I was a schoolboy, in the balmy days of His Holiness Pope John the XXIII, there were two quips going around my school about life. They were:
"Life is a sexually transmitted terminal disease."
And:
"Life is like a shit sandwitch. The more bread you've got, the less shit you have to eat."
I wonder what Benny would make of those philosophies.
