The Capital Letter - by BerlinBear

Why don't we think of all the people who are going everyday in wars, 3rd world...who haven't got enough food to survive. Why does something big have to happen for us to think about the miseries of this planet....?

Gravatar That is a fair point, Lex. That said, if you read through my archives you'll see, I hope, that I do think about and write about the miseries of this planet even when "something big" hasn't happened. In this case though, the something was so big, so horrific, that I think it's fair to call it to mind separately and specially. No?

Gravatar I think it's good to keep the reminders flowing; help us keep those less fortunate in our houghts at a time when we are snuggled up in our warm homes with plenty to eat and problems that seem insignificant compared to those devastated by natural disasters and man made as well. Perhaps even better than a thought would be yet another contribution. It hurts, to keep coughing up the money every time the need arises, but I say continue doing it as long as you can. You never know when you'll need that kindness extended to yourself.

(hope your holiday went well, Mr. and Miss Bear)

You're quite right, of course. And yes, thank you, our holiday season has been very nice so far. I trust the same is true of yours.
