What I loathe equally much is that, if you're reading comments left to a post on a blogger blog, and you click to see who it is that's left such witty and wise words, you're taken to a blog ante-chamber, to that flipping profile page. Who gives a toss what films they like and what they'd do if they met a Martian in their bathroom? Just take me to their flipping blog. God it's annoying.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets it wrong one out of four times. (Actually it might be nearer one out of three.) On the other hand, I HATE, HATE, HATE comment spam, and much prefer to use word verification than not. It's worth it, just.
Another annoying thing about comments in blogger is the way the comments come in via email without any indication of which post they are attached to. When I was getting comment spam (no more!) I would want to delete it - but I had to find it first. Often the spammers go back months to post comment spam, and I was so determined to get rid of it I'd spend hours checking post after post...
I'm pretty sure there are still a couple on my blog, but I gave up in the end.
There is other comment software available (for free) such as Haloscan, which I use on my blog. You can install it over the top of Blogger.
I think we are all talking about different things. Uroksin, I have got HaloScan installed. You must have noticed that when you commented in a HaloScan pop-up, no?
BadAunt, I wasn't talking about word-verification on comments, I was talking about it on posts. i.e. I have to verify that I'm human to post on my own goddamn blog. I do also hate w-v on comments too, incidentally, AND comment spam.
BiB, I could not agree with you more, good sir. Infuriating.
Anyway, I've discovered that you can fill in a separate word-verification to "claim" that you're human so that the blogger team will come and have a look at your blog to check and then turn off the w-v on posting for you. Apparently. Not sure how long this will take....
