The Capital Letter - by BerlinBear |

That is annoying, but what bugs me more is scare-mongering front page headlines. The Daily Mail is the worst culprit for this, predicting the end of the world on a regular basis (whether due to terrorism, bird flu, petrol prices or Wayne Rooney's toes) in the hopes that you will buy the paper out of fear and the need for complete knowledge. Almost invariably, on reading the article, you find that the situation is not nearly as dire as you have been led to believe. I think that there should be a regulatory body monitoring this kind of behaviour (Ofhead) which, after a certain number of offences, hands out a suitable punishment. My best suggestions are a week of blank front pages, a restriction on font size, or a requirement to lead with topics such as local by-election results, village fetes or bowls. |
