(I don’t think this woman was American.)
I use to feel outrage when I would hear about how women were mistreated in some of these backward-ass countries. But now I just don’t care anymore. Fuck ‘em. That’s what they get for being muslims and living among morons. What a joke of a people, a country, and a religion (well, its not really a religion).
Face it, Saudi Arabia is a “no-go” zone. We should outlaw travel there
and keep them from our borders too. By the way, we should outlaw burqa’s in this country. It’s a symbol of slavery. How would it look if we allowed black women to walk around handcuffed and in chains.
I’m seeing more and more of these burqa slaves in our cities now. I think a good way to fight this silently is to fill a squirt-gun with fox urine and walk behind these idiots and quietly spray the back of their slave clothes. In fact, this would be a good idea for the muslim driving taxicabs.

I read this today, too. I noticed in the comments of another post, though, that some on the left believe that it's the U.S. that must move a bit more towards the left yet never ever espouse what is obviously true-- that Islamic law is dangerous and barbaric. (With the exception of the times they are blaming those dangerous and barbaric practices on the existence of the evil U.S.)

Soon, if the British Muslims, Muslim apologists and Arabists have their way, they can bring these archaic laws to England, too.

I've noticed the liberals are strangely silent when it comes to this kind of stuff. If pressed, though, they usually deny it's representative of the "real Islam" and refuse to denounce it (Sharia) as reprehensible. When those few who are honest enough to denounce it as reprehensible actually do, they refuse to acknowledge the real "root cause" which is Islam itself-- despite the fact they spend an inordinate amount of time trying to find ways to make the U.S. the "root cause" of most other evil in the world.
Remember the woman who named her Teddy Bear Muhammed? She couldn't even make that connection, either, and still praised Islam.
All of those folks have a hissy fit, though, if somebody in public office or running for public office dares to mention he believes in Jesus-- while practicing his religion peacefully.

You mean kind of like the way the owner of this site and his sheep-like readers are having a hissy fit over the way Obama practices his religion peacefully?
Difference between daring to believe in Jesus (Obama) and wanting to re-introduce Biblical law (Huckabee).

"During her stay in a Saudi dungeon she was, predictably, strip-searched and then forced to sign a false confession. Unfortunately for the police, she was not in custody long enough for her to be tortured and raped as is the custom among Muslims".
Americans, on the other hand have never been known for their use of torture...or rape...or coercion..or wrongful arrest...or...oh forget it.

Leslie, regarding "carpet bombing an entire region of the world full of millions of innocent human beings":
Carpet bombing in Germany and Japan saved millions of American lives, the ones worth saving. In the same manner, we could save the other three-quarters of this planet much pain and suffering if Islam ceased to exist. Why aren't you concerned about the 4.5 billion souls who will suffer under Muslim rule?
You tolerate the existence of the most intolerant, barbaric faux-religion in the world, yet you are intolerant of my religion, which says I should love kafirs and hate the non-kafir. I don't get it. Isn't my religion as worthy as theirs?

Bii hicks, Yes, Americans have used torture...or rape...or coercion..or wrongful arrest.
However, in America it is unlawful and those responsible are punished. In Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and other countries with Muslim majorities rape and torture are not unlawful and no one is punished.
Sadly, you do not see the difference. 99% of Muslims do not see anything wrong with the police whipping a woman for wearing slutty clothing and if 1% of Americans feel the same way, you say, "See American and Muslim culture both enjoy whipping women for being unveiled."
You need to take a math course.

Two weeks before Yara, an American businesswoman, was arrested by Saudi Arabia’s religious police for sitting with a male colleague at Starbucks, she said she strolled past the very same cafe with another businessman: Neil Bush.
Bush, President George W. Bush’s younger brother and CEO of the education software company Ignite!, was in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, speaking at an economic forum hosted by King Abdullah for hundreds of influential business leaders.
Yara, who does not want her last name revealed because of safety concerns, is a managing partner at a Saudi financial company. She went to hear Bush speak, and she said she invited him later to tour her company’s offices, to give him a sense of what life was really like for women living in the capital.
“I was boasting about Riyadh, telling him it doesn’t deserve its bad reputation,” she said. “I told him I never experienced any harassment. I’d had no trouble as a woman. It was business as usual.”
But on Monday, Yara learned that she had been wrong. She was thrown in jail, strip-searched, threatened and forced to sign false confessions by the kingdom’s “Mutaween” police. “When I was arrested, it was like going through an avalanche,” she said. “All of my beliefs were completely destroyed.”

Carpet bombing in Germany and japan. Uh wasn't the world at war back then? Weren't the allies mortal enemies of the nations of Japan and Germany? Now, as far as I know America and Saudi Arabia are officially friends. But I like your statement " saved millions of American lives. The ones worth saving". So all the soldiers who died weren't worth saving?

Moral relatavism irrelevancy is about to save the day
Strapping bomb vests onto Downes Syndrome women and sending them to crowded markets is just A-OK. This happened a week ago. Can you find no outrage? This was not targeted against military--Iraqi or otherwise. This was targeted at civilians going about their lawful business.
Should those perpetrators not be stopped by any means necessary?
American presence in this Jihad War did not inspire this hatefulness but it has inspired the most evil amongst us to respond and expose their vile natures.
I allow that Americans are and never have been perfect. I allow that Americans have, at times, demonstrated what no one could not condemn as evil. But I defy you to represent that Americans, as a whole, are, or have ever been, less than the greatest, most generous, most sacrificing, most noble people that this impoverished world has ever seen.
Waterboarding is demonstrably not torture. Thousands of our troops have experienced it in routine training.
Millions of women have experienced clitorectimies, often by glass shards from coke bottles; where's the outrage from women's groups for this barbaric mutilation?
Socialism failed as a model without vicious and brutal subjugation and brainwashing.
When a Christian sponsored eye surgeon went to N. Korea and restored eyesight to many blind people they prostrated themselves to the iconic photo of Kim as if he was the deity responsible for their cure.
Too many Americans have it all backwards. Please read history.

That is the most arrogant piece of codswollop I have ever heard and precisely the reason the rest of the world hates you! Vietnam, Chile, Laos, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Iraq. The list goes on and on. And that's just your foreign policy.
What about slavery and racism? Your government has tested radiation on members of its own military for fucks sake. Wake the fuck up.
Self criticism is vital to the progress of any society. And where does this criticism come from? Liberals and other progressives. Civil rights, women's suffrage, women's work rights, gay rights, separation of Church and State. All fought for by LIBERALS.

No. Liberals are a modern invention, Progressives, Abolitionists and the Revolutionaries who brought about change would be repulsed by you.
Liberals are not special. They are like the dwarfed mentally disabled version of the above, they are those groups without the punch and drive to cause any change. And the "change" they want isn't really much new at all. They are the biggest bunch of lazy, inactive, self-serving, whiny losers that I have ever heard. It is precisely because they are the neutered kid brother of other movements that I would never associate myself with them.
This is not partisan, I do not apply this label to the Democratic Party as there is a reason their leaders have stopped associating them self with that label. I want to make that clear.
If American history makes you sick, Ruby, I hope you don't start reading about other countries, you may go comatose and what a woe that would be.
I'm not going to address Leslie because it is clear that even if Ruby is difficult to deal with, arguing with some one who cannot even make basic linguistic associations will be impossible. But she should understand this. Obama is a talented windbag, he's a dark horse candidate and they usually end up screwing everything up. He's Bush with less experience and a slightly altered ideology.
Regarding torture - its wrong. As I person I have no persona moral problems with torturing terrorists, but to guard our country's liberties I cannot rightfully support it.

I beg to differ. Hey even Mitt Romney has said that America is on course to become the "France of the 21st Century". Oh dear god no. Not those intelligent, free, peaceful, happy, progressive FRENCHIES. Anything but that.
Can I just remind you here that your dollar is now worse less than half a Euro? Actually, didn't it dip below the Canadian dollar too? And you can forget about a war with Iran. Bush's haste to get into Iraq and the subsequent mess means the UN will never sanction such a war again. You won't find support anywhere. This pretty much leaves Iran to develop its nuclear weapons unhindered. Man you guys really stuffed that one up didn't you?
China is also coming hot on your heels my friend. Do you think you have the capacity to attack China?
**"No. Liberals are a modern invention, Progressives, Abolitionists and the Revolutionaries who brought about change would be repulsed by you".
Oh I get it. We are arguing semantics here. See in the rest of the world, 'liberal 'is still a synonym for 'progressive.' I do use the term in its pure form, not as a political label. Funny thing is in Australia the Liberal Party is conservative. It's all just names see. I was just trying to point out that Americans who criticise America don't do so because they hate it but because they want to make it better.
**"They are the biggest bunch of lazy, inactive, self-serving, whiny losers that I have ever heard".
How so? Not being sarcastic. Keep in mind I live in another country.
**"Regarding torture - its wrong. As I person I have no persona moral problems with torturing terrorists, but to guard our country's liberties I cannot rightfully support it"
Well holy moly. We agree on something. But, whilst you may think it is fun to poke nails into the eyes of terrorists, you must obviously realise that once adopted torture can, and inevitably will, be used indiscriminately. That's why it must remain illegal.
**"That said Bii Hicks, you are still a very large moron. There is absolutely no moral equivalence between the US and Saudi Arabia".
Not addressed to me but I'll address it anyway. Pointing out that America also has seriously flaws is not say that it is equivalent to countries such as Saudi Arabia. However, it is CONSTRUCTIVE criticism of those Muslims nations which is needed. Simply saying that they rape and torture is ineffective because well, so do Americans. What needs to be addresses is Saudi Arabia's deprivation of human rights to its entire population. What Bernie et al are doing is failing to distinguish between the oppressors and those they are oppressing. The ordinary citizens of Islam are not to blame for the sins of their leaders. Just as the citizens of America are not to blame for the sins of THEIR leaders.
There is one big difference though. Americans are able to speak out against corruption and oppression. And speaking out is vital. See Nate, that's why we get frustrated when some Americans refuse to criticise their government for anything they do, as if self-criticism is somehow anti-American. It's not and governments must be held accountable. If people stopped speaking out, then you WOULD end up being morally equivalent to Saudi Arabia.
**"If American history makes you sick, Ruby, I hope you don't start reading about other countries, you may go comatose and what a woe that would be".
Very funny. I have actually read world history. Wanna know why American history particularly offends me? Too bad, I'm going to tell you anyway. Because it is covert. Because the government acts stealthily and pays others to do its dirty work so it can retain this facade of 'I'm the face of freedom and the defender of democracy". Yuck. Dig deeper. You will discover the truth. But something tells me you probably already have.

> I beg to differ. Money. Ect.
Hey you're right, economic downturns in capitalist economies that are naturally cyclical spell the end of our power.
That was sarcasm.
You may not have known, but throughout the 19th century America had large economic depressions around every ten years.
There's no need to attack China. But if we wanted to we could. We spend around 4x what the ENTIRE REST OF THE WORLD spends on defense per year.
Nuclear shields effectively prevent large powers from attacking each other, there will be no US, China war. On top of that, China has invested heavily in the US - they really don't want any war.
Plus, the Chinese economy is actually 40% smaller than previously believed. It's going to take at least another 50 years. Our world goals will be complete by then.
>How so?
Ever been to Digg.com?
>The ordinary citizens of Islam are not to blame for the sins of their leaders. Just as the citizens of America are not to blame for the sins of THEIR leaders.
Au freaking contraire madam. All people are directly responsible for their government, as government is merely a covenant between the people and their rulers. All power lies in the people's hands.
In the United States our covenant is different than the covenant in Saudi Arabia, but there is still an agreement between the people and their government.
If people are oppressed by their government it is because they do it to themselves. To steal from John Locke, revolution is not only a right, it is in some circumstances an obligation.
We as Americans are responsible for the sins of our government. They as Saudi Arabians are responsible for the sins of theirs. And you as an Australian are responsible for the sins of yours.
>Wanna know why American history particularly offends me? Too bad, I'm going to tell you anyway. Because it is covert. Because the government acts stealthily and pays others to do its dirty work so it can retain this facade of 'I'm the face of freedom and the defender of democracy".

Now, now, Nate, you should know that pointing out any sarcasm in a remark completely negates the said sarcasm. Rest assured that I got the joke and have a little faith next time.
Its pure psychology. See we all used to look up to America and be afraid of you. Because we thought you were big and strong and rich and GOOD. Not anymore. We kinda laugh at you now. You can’t beat the insurgents in Iraq and your govt can’t afford this war. Time to withdraw, losers.

**”Au freaking contraire madam. All people are directly responsible for their government, as government is merely a covenant between the people and their rulers. All power lies in the people's hands”.
Au contraire Madam? Wow, you ARE turning into France! And that’s Mademoiselle to you buster. Your statement is problematic. See in the West we get to vote for our leaders, not so in Saudi Arabia. And they have the triple whammy of having a dictatorship of a royal family, Islam as their religion and the good ole US of A funding the said Islamic Dictatorship Royal Family to the tune of billions of dollars.
That said, Democracy is also a flawed system as the govt is usually only representative of just over 50% of the population. When Obama or Clinton becomes your President and withdraws from Iraq, would they be doing so on your behalf? Would you see yourself as responsible since you will not have voted for them?
**To steal from John Locke, revolution is not only a right, it is in some circumstances an obligation”.
It’s only stealing when you don’t acknowledge the source. And did you just say “revolution”????? Fuck me drunk Nate! Them words liable to have you branded a communist round these here parts.
Hey, you can quote Locke and I can know what you are talking about because as westerners we share a common history that includes the origins of the Enlightenment. The Arabs/Muslims don’t have that. Who the fuck is John Locke and what the hell is a revolution? That’s what most of them would say. See what we are up against when it comes to Islam? This isn’t a dig at Muslims per se. They just have a different history. John Locke and the other enlightened ones are not a part of it. Sad but true.
**”We as Americans are responsible for the sins of our government”.
So why do you get so fucking mad when people criticise the sins of your government and try to rectify them? Self-loathing this. Anti-America that. It is very unseemly to put it way too mildly. As I said Americans are only to blame for their leaders sins IF they don’t speak out! But ultra cons seem that think that speaking out is anti-American, even though they do like to waffle on about free speech and the first amendment.
**”So you are saying that you prefer authoritarianism to a democracy that sometimes strays from its path? You are a little drama princess aren't you?”
I believe the term is ‘drama queen’, but since ‘princess’ is kinda cute and as close to a compliment as I’ll ever get from you I’ll take it. No I wouldn’t say America offends me more, it just offends me in a different way. Hussein was a flat out despot. There is no debate as to his character and regime. There is such a debate with America.
America does not “stray from its path”. The aggressive way in which America behaves overseas is crucial to its remaining the world’s only Superpower. It NEEDS to oppress and repress other, weaker nations in order to keep its own way of life functioning. You don’t see this because you live in America. But for those of us in other parts of the world it is a very different story.
**”WW2, Korea” etc.
I love how Americans always bring up WW2. Like it’s the ultimate argument winner. Why don’t you tell me why America took so long before finally joining the Allies huh? America knew about the concentration camps, the invasion of Poland, the Fall of France and the Battle of Britain (which Britain won without your help), but still you dragged your feet didn’t you? Defender of democracy. Yes, but only when there is something in it for you. And I can’t believe you included Vietnam on your list. You do refer to that utterly pointless war that you LOST, right?
**”You’re not making a point. Everyone can see that you were just trolling with that last part…Our opinions aren't going to change and I've already won theirs”.
Not trolling. That last part was actually specifically directed at you Nate. Most of the readers that frequent this site are a lost cause. I know what they are and their opinions are meaningless to me. I pity them with their hatred and their blind nationalism. You, on the other hand, are a tough nut to crack. You are far from ignorant but still defend their stupid remarks. I can’t understand why. I thought if I hung around here long enough I would figure you out. But alas, you continue to elude me. >You can’t beat the insurgents in Iraq
Wrong. Completely wrong, we CAN we have the ability. Morality that we have prevents us from easily beating them. We could massacre anyone with any ties and not let anyone out of their houses. But since we have morality it becomes tougher.
Do not comment on the power of a military when it intentionally limits itself.
>I deduce from your comments to date that you were once a liberal. I would love to know what changed your mind.
I was never a liberal because I was never stupid enough to be one. Being a liberal requires a large amount of naivety and stupid which even at a younger age I didn't have.
>Democracy, west ect.
Didn't prove a point in the least.
>Who the fuck is John Locke and what the hell is a revolution? That’s what most of them would say.
It doesn't matter, its just an eloquently stated universal idea. We live in a world without moral truth except in of societies, every single society is a covenant that exchanges a person's liberties for personal safety. That is the foundation for everything, and it is the same everywhere. The moral truth that exists in one society exists in another society because they are all rooted in the same concept.
Muslims, since they can think, should have noticed this. We don't need a common history, since morally humans all think the same. If they do not keep correct morality everyone in a society is intentionally perverting it.
>Why don’t you tell me why America took so long before finally joining the Allies huh?
World War Two was America's ultimate sacrifice. Up until this point, America had been an isolationist country. Its foundations had been set up against intervention in Europe or around the globe, and America a country composed of immigrants hated European politics. It took something so great that it ripped away some of the foundations of our country, like WW2, to get us to intervene - and stay there.
And after the war we rebuilt Europe single handedly.
>So why do you get so fucking mad when people criticise the sins of your government and try to rectify them?
I sure as hell do not.
>what the hell is a guy like you doing in a place like this?

And, by the way, Red, the proper (literate) construction of your sentence would be:
You all sound like a bunch of illiterates WHO don't know up from down.
And, illiterates would tend to congregate in groups-- as opposed to "bunches".
You're welcome!

I forgot to add that "You all" is actually improper, as well. A better choice would be "All of you" or just "You".

**“Morality that we have prevents us from easily beating them”.
You are confusing morality with accountability. The Bush Administration did not show any semblance of morality when it falsified ‘intelligence’ of WMDs and a link between Al Qaeda and Iraq in order to push through its case for war. In order to win this war you would have to kill even more civilians than you already have and you know the world would never, ever forgive you for that. Your hands are tied because globalisation means you now need us just as much as we need you. If you went around asserting yourself as such you would become completely isolated. Even though you are the Superpower, there are rules even you must obey. That’s not morality. That’s self-preservation. On this more level playing field, you can’t control the insurgents. And that’s why you can’t attack Iran.
**”I was never a liberal because I was never stupid enough to be one”.
Not buying that one, sorry. Many of your comments indicate a respect for the early liberal/progressionist movement. They also point to a disgust with the liberal political movement in America as opposed to liberalism per se. And you said this to me “I used to be like you and that’s why you repulse me”.
Somewhere along the way you got burned.
(That’s the first time a man has ever told me I repulsed him, btw. But then, you haven’t seen me in a mini and fishnets).
**”Didn't prove a point in the least”.
Okay, I did kinda waffle there a bit but my point was that, even in democracies, no government is ever completely representative of the people. Even less so in Muslim countries. Ergo, can you really blame the Muslim civilians every time their leaders act a little crazy?
**”Muslims, since they can think, should have noticed this. We don't need a common history.”
Yes we bloody well do! Are you seriously telling me that if you happened to born in the Middle East, that you would be any different to the Muslims there now? That the words of John Locke would mean anything to you? Give me a break. Every psychologist in the world will tell you that its nurture, not nature. The way Muslims perceive the world is a direct result of the way they are brought up. And they are brought up with religion not philosophy and certainly not with the likes of Locke and Voltaire and Spinoza. So they accept it as truth. Unfortunately the information they receive from the Western World is very restricted. I haven’t been to Syria but I have spoken to some backpackers who have and whilst they do indeed have the internet there, it is very different to the one we are familiar with. Pretty much all western references have been censored. There is no freedom of information and a lack of education. Why do you think Muslim leaders prevent women from getting an education? So they don’t realise they could have it better. Education is the key to a progressive society. So education is restricted. Hence no progression.
**”World War Two was America's ultimate sacrifice”.
Oh please, someone pass me a bucket. Could you Yanks be any more up yourselves? WW2 was the best thing that ever happened to America as it allowed you a foothold in Europe and so were able to monitor and control the spread of the USSR. And there is a difference between intervention and coming to the aid of allies who need your help. You’d already fought in WW1 so its not as if the concept was completely foreign. You could have fought in WW2 without staying in Europe afterwards and without contravening the foundations of your country. But you threw away the ideals of the Founding Fathers didn’t you? And so begins the rise of the Empire. Never mind turning in their graves, Jefferson and Smith will be spinning out of control.
And America most certainly did not build Europe single-handedly. The Marshall Plan was integral yes, but I think that some European countries deserve a share of the credit too, no?
And you didn’t answer the question. What took you so long?
**”I sure as hell do not”.
Easy tiger. I meant why do some Americans get so angry when people criticise their government? And by ‘some Americans I mean conservatives- your people.
**”I need it to balance out all the utter crap I hear from your side.”
You need to “balance out utter crap” with more crap? That’s a disappointing answer. I will be presumptuous here and say that there is no way this site can possibly satisfy you intellectually. Tell me I am wrong.

Hey are you ever going to stop annoying the crap out of me?
And you're one to talk about ignoring facts, responding emotionally and not seeing information that is right in front of your eyes. Two words Kendra:
Muqteda Kahn.
Remember him?
Hmmm. Pot...kettle..black...
Ruby |

I remember him. The difference with him is that I was wrong and readily admitted it. I saw his PR material, his front page, and believed he was being honest when I initially quoted him. When I looked further, I saw that all that stuff was BS and he was not a moderate at all. More proof one can't trust those folks-- he's another supporter of terror pretending to be a moderate.
When I discovered the new facts, I immediately altered my opinion regarding Khan and stated so. When you, however, get new facts that don't support your opinion, you ignore those facts and continue cling to your opinion!
When you were proven wrong by Bernie here:
http://plancksconstant.org/
blog1...good_thing.html , you insisted you were correct. When I proved you wrong, you still insisted you were correct and refused to acknowledge your many errors.
And, to top it off, when I brought up how you constantly (and gauchely) mention your educational background, you accused me of "espousing" my background! Prove that statement if you believe it to be true. Nobody else on these pages do what you do, Ruby. Only you keep mentioning how you went to two of the most esteemed universities in Australia, that you majored in economics and history and that you have studied and read "ancient, medieval and modern history, psychology, social anthropology, industrial relations, religion, political economy, english literature, art history, and film theory/practice."
So, no, my comments and posts aren't hypocritical, Ruby. There is no pot calling the kettle black here. You are the only person here who consistently honors her own self with such elaborate praise and laudation. It's only you who gracelessly celebrates her education while refusing to acknowledge her errors.

Nice way to pat yourself on the back for your own hypocricy and narrow mindedness. You assumed Kahn shared your views on Muslims because you are so sure your views are right. When I- politely I might add- pointed out to you that you were mistaken, you refused to actually consider Kahn's point of view because it clashes with your bigoted beliefs.
Never mind that he IS a moderate Muslim. Never mind that he is a highly respected political analyst. Never mind that he is very critical of fundamentalist Islam.
Because he does not agree with you on all points, he must be wrong right?
You are ridiculous! You did not change your opinion. You merely blotted out the awful truth because you can't bare to look at it- exactly what you accuse me of doing.
As for me me not acknowledging my errors, I believe I did mention that of the SIX references I sourced the only one which supports your definition of 'parse' was the American Heritage Dictionary. Guess what? I am not American. We don't use parse in that context here. So nya nya nya nya nya! But please, by all means, feel free to continue bastardising the English language.
And at the end of the day Kendra, what relevance does the meaning of 'parse' have? Does it have any bearing on whether "ethnic cleansing is sometimes a good thing"? That's actually the issue I wanted to debate there. But nobody else seemed interested. Apparently it makes more sense to bag me and my education than to talk about Bernie's penchant for supporting human rights atrocities.
Oh and about my education since YOU brought it up...I forgot to add I also took French.
Au revoir madame, Je pense vous une femme très désagréable et furieuse. Je n'ai aucun désir pour la correspondance de plus avec vous, donc arrêtent s'il vous plaît juste de me tracasser.

If you wish no further correspondence from me, then ignore my posts.
1. His name is spelled Khan. I assumed he shared my views on Moderate Islam because in the first essay I read, he denounced militaristic Jihad. ( I should have realized immediately that something was amiss when he used John Esposito as an example!) Upon further reading, however, I found he still supported terrorism while at the same time denouncing it! Hating Islamic terrorism and those who support Islamic terror does not make me a bigot, Ruby.
2. You didn't point out Khan's difference of opinion, Ruby. What happened was you stated you agreed with his views which, of course, caused me to read further. When I read further, I found I didn't agree with his views and immediately stated as much.
3. Ruby, you are a liar. It's not that you didn't know the word parse or that you didn't know the word arabist. It's that you called Bernie a fool as you insisted you were right and he was wrong. It's that you said I falsified my sources when I gave you the correct link to dictionary.com. It's that you can't accept responsibility for any of your numerous errors.
4. Nobody is "bagging" your education, Ruby! People criticize you because you ignore facts even when they are right in front of you. You refuse to acknowledge when you are wrong. You throw your education around as if this gives your arguments added weight and as if you are the only educated person here. If you think about this, why else have you told us all about your academic history so often? And, to top it off, you had the nerve to insist I had done the same when nothing could be further from the truth. As I explained before, Ruby, the fact that you " went to two of the most esteemed universities in Australia, that you majored in economics and history and that you have studied and read "ancient, medieval and modern history, psychology, social anthropology, industrial relations, religion, political economy, english literature, art history, and film theory/practice.. and took French" is just not as impressive as you seem to believe. Further, the fact that you mention it in so many of your posts is the epitome of unsophistication.
The fact that I brought up your education in this particular post is not the issue here. I brought it up only to call attention to your consistently boorish behavior, Ruby.
5. At the end of the day, nobody truly cares if you don't know the word parse or the word arabist. And, no, it really has nothing to do at all with Ethnic Cleansing being a good or bad thing. Let me remind you that it was YOU who took issue with Bernie when he used the word parse-- insisting he used it incorrectly. Did that have anything to do with whether Ethnic Cleansing was a Good thing or not? You were proven wrong and you then called Bernie a fool while incorrectly insisting you were correct. And, when I gave you the link to the definition, you accused me of giving you an erroneous link and a false source.
When you lose an argument, you disappear rather than admit your errors. Of course you wish to discontinue correspondence and wish to label me an angry and disagreeable woman. I think, though, the truth is that you just will not take responsibility for your ignorance and refuse to admit your mistakes.
Ayez une bonne journée.

No you twit I 'disappear' because I get absolutely nothing out of my interaction with you except a migraine. You are shrill and annoying and every post you address to me feels like you are standing two centimetres from my ear and SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF YOUR VOICE!!!!!!
I did not see the definition of 'parse' on the link you gave. Just didn't scroll down the page and see it. I was about to write back and tell you so when you beat me to
and decided to tell me what an"uncultivated boor" I am. So I just didn't bother.
And I don't mention my education because it makes me feel better than you. i do it in my own defence when you call me stupid and ignorant and uneducated. When you guys ask me if I was educated in a trailer park, when Bernie accuses me of having a limited breadth of reading, when you tell me I can't analyse information. I don't know why you get so bloody touchy about it, I really don't. I get called a whore, a banshee, a communist, a terrorist, a self-loathing liberal, a bitch, a troll, a dumb cunt, etc etc etc and you have the nerve to get offended because I retaliate by informing you that I am actually educated and my opinions are informed?
It wasn't Bernie's misuse of the word 'parse' that pissed me off, it was his attempt to deflect attention from the fact that he supported the ethnic cleansing of an entire, innocent population. It was the fact that he dwelled on irrelevant nonsense so as not to address the real issue at hand.
And that is what you are doing now! Constantly quoting my references to my education because you think it somehow invalidates me as a person hence making all my opinions obsolete.
Well, no sorry, it does not work that way.
And I have tried to ignore your posts but you just won't let it alone with you? You are the one who insistis on mentioning my name and attempting to draw me into a conversation. Not because you are interested in debating with me but simply because you want to rant and rave and generally make your voice heard.
And yes, you are indeed an angry and disagreeable woman. Your posts prove it. You latch onto the slightest mistakes I make and bring them up again and again. What was my initial reaction to the Khan episode Kendra? What did I say to you when you admitted to me that you had not actually read any of his articles?
Oh yeah, NOTHING! Nothing. I didn't try to humiliate you or make you feel bad about it. i saw no reason to rub your face in it. I just put it down to simple human error and let the whole thing slide. Yeah, catch me doing that again.
I could care less how his name is spelled and he does not support terrorism. There you go again accusing me of ignoring facts and been ignorant when it is you that is guilty of both.
Stop projecting your faults onto to me, you tired old wretch. I've had a gutful of you.
Oh yeah, nice touch ending your post with the French, but kind of ineffective since I did it first, no?
Or is it just a case of imitation being the sincerest form of flattery?
Ruby |

Let's get th whole "Khan episode" out of the way first. There was no need to rub my face in my mistake because I readily admitted I hadn't read further after you stated you agreed with his opinions. I posted a link to something he wrote that caused me to believe he was a reasonable Muslim. Additionally, he is believed to be a moderate Muslim and is accepted as a moderate Muslim political analyst by the very organizations I respect. However, despite the fact that he denounces militaristic Jihad, he still makes excuses for Hezbollah and Hamas and blames America's support of Israel as the reason "al Qaeda must be running out of enrollment forms".
Now, on to the rest:
Ruby, the reason I make fun of you mentioning your education so often is because it doesn't matter-- Vous agissez toujours comme un enfant.
Vous ne comprenez toujours pas. Nobody believes you are uneducated nor under-educated. Do you really believe that if you mention that you went to two of the best universities in Australia I, or anyone else, will stop and say, "Gee, Ruby went to two of the most esteemed Universities in Australia! She must know what she's talking about!". Do you truly believe if you respond that you have "majored in economics and history and have studied and read "ancient, medieval and modern history, psychology, social anthropology, industrial relations, religion, political economy, english literature, art history, and film theory/practice.. and took French", any of us will stop and think, "Well, gee, we must be wrong and Ruby must be right since she's so highly educated."
I believe most everyone here-- with the exception of Leslie-- is educated. And, your education means nothing at all because it has not served you well. Your posts are meaningless not because I or anyone else call attention to your many mistakes. Your opinions are obsolete because you lack critical thinking skills-- not because anyone has called attention to your errors.
You are way too emotional, Ruby. This is an anonymous message board. If you are starting to get migraines, you are taking this all way too seriously and would most likely benefit from some rest-- you sound very frustrated, upset and angry and more than a bit unhealthy.

Okay now who's getting emotional?. No I don't think my mentioning my education is going to make you all hail me as a genius and immediately alter your points of view.
I do however, believe it affords me the right not to be labeled an ignoramus and an idiot. And I love how you insist on quoting my entire subject list with every post. You are not embarrassing me by doing so Kendra, though I am sure that is your intention.
You are however embarrassing yourself with your continued use of the French language and now German and Spanish to boot.
That was a joke, Kendra. A JOKE! I don't even speak French!
And I most certainly do NOT lack critical thinking skills. You mentioned Khan to me and this is what you said:
"Do you think you know more about Islam than Khan Ruby?"
Well no, I don't actually. But obviously you do! You falling all over yourself with praise for him without even bothering to read his work because you REACT EMOTIONALLY. You give me a link to his website because YOU CAN'T SEE INFORMATION THAT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES. And who the hell are you to tell him he supports terror because he is merely making a link between Israeli aggression and the rise of terrorism? You don't have to be a genius to work that out. You are aware that Hezbollah was formed when Israel invaded South Lebanon right? Obviously Kendra, YOU LACK CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS.
Classic case of projection. Textbook. Open and shut. You are a psychologist's dream patient.
My education has served me better than you will ever know you twit. If I am upset it is because i can't believe people like you exist. I really can't. I think we are way too sheltered in this country. This blog has been a rude awakening for me. I feel sorry for the rest of the Americans that have to deal with you on a daily basis.
How frustrating it must be to share your country with such backward, intolerant, know-it-all, racist bigots.
For all her faults poor Leslie has got one thing right- Obama will be your next President.
And finally, the world can can start to respect you a little more.

Ruby,
Khan is a knowledgeable Muslim. He knows more about Islam than you. I'm not backtracking here. I believe most religious Muslims are knowledgeable when it comes to their religion-- which is why many of us do not trust them.
This Islamist is knowledgeable, too:
http://forums.islamicawakening.c...read.php?
t=1928
And, as I've said several times now, I agreed with Khan's essay on Moderate Islam almost completely. I don't have a problem with the specific essay I posted-- that's what I knew about him at the time. When I learned more, I changed my mind. I really don't see the problem here except that you seem to have a problem with this.
I thought we could converse in French a little-- I thought that might be fun! My mistake for believing what you said. Now I guess we'll all doubt that you attended "two of the most esteemed universities in Australia, that you majored in economics and history and that you have studied and read 'ancient, medieval and modern history, psychology, social anthropology, industrial relations, religion, political economy, english literature, art history, and film theory/practice'".
Of course I'm trying to embarrass you, Ruby! Your continued self-praise invites ridicule.

And now who's been all full of herself showing off all the languages she can speak?
And yes, I just said Khan knows more about Islam than I do. i wouldn't dream of suggesting otherwise. You are the one who takes herself too seriously.
